"You know, Lord Dawnrose, it's good to know tha there are still lords in the realm who know how to honour a lady," Joanna said.

"I would rather die then be discourteous to a woman. Especially one as beautiful as yourself Your Grace." Barristan kissed Joanna's hand and gave her a quick wink. He then waved to one his men and he brought out a little puppy. No more then a few months old.

Joanna's heart melted at once.
"Oh, how sweet! Will he let me hold him?"

"Of course Your Grace. It is only right for the owner to bond early with the puppy." The man stepped forward offering the little puppy to Joanna.

She enfolded the puppy in her arns and stroked its ears.
"Is he old enough to leave his mother?"

"Yes we've found the Dire-Hounds are able survive much easier without there mothers. You'll just have to take care of it. I suggest a rag or something soaked in milk."

She smiled and cuddled the puppy.
"Alright. Then I name him...Balerion, after the dragon of Aegon the Conqueror."
"The King would grow jealous if I named the pup after his former owner."
She laughed and winked.

"Yes. Tell me more about these direhounds.. I did not know they existed. What is their temperament?"

"They grow to be larger then normal hounds and are stronger faster but can also be more loyal and loving then a normal hound. But you have to understand they can be very... vicious. Don't leave them alone with someone you don't trust."

"Alright. Does it take time for them to trust people?" Joanna asked. "Will I need to enlist someone else to keep this little one with them at all times until I can train him to obey my every command?"
