"I'm not sure. A few weeks. No more than a month, but probably less. The thing is, we came specifically to see my mother. She's not seen her granddaughters in quite some time. I'm not sure what we will do now that path is closed to us."

Ser Esmond nodded, "it is a shame your bird didn't reach us, but please, do stay as long as you wish. We will provide chambers here for you to rest and wash from your journey tonight, and in the morning I well send some men to accompany you up to the Eyrie."

"Thank you. You are very kind. I told our maester to send the letter but perhaps there was a problem. Ravens die as easily as any other animal. Are there any visitors to the Eyrie at present?"

Ser Esmond paused, then nodded, "yes, my princess, though it is a matter of some discretion. Lady Aryanna Dayne is staying in the keep, Prince Maekar has offered it to her as a safe haven following the recent attacks on her life. I would ask that you not speak to anyone of where she is though."

"I will not, of course. I am sure, however, that Aryanne would welcome my company while I am here. Poor girl, I saw her after she was attacked. She bore it bravely but I could see how distressed she was."

"Yes, and she will no doubt be in need of your presence after the slaying of her father. I understand she has been quite lonely up there."

Joanna stared at Ser Esmond in horrified disbelief.
"Ser Euric is dead? What happened?"

"You have not heard?" he asked surprised. "It happened several months ago, everyone has been speaking of the death of Ser Euric. He was killed in an attempt to assassinate Lady Aranya."

Bettley is brought to see the Keeper of the Gates of the Moon, Ser Esmond Donniger.
Ser Esmond rises when he enter. "Lord Bettley, this is most unexpected, you are far from the king's court indeed. I hope you haven't come looking for Prince Maekar," he said, as he walked to the cabinet and made a gesture of offering wine.

Milo waved his hand, "I am here to interview Arya Dayne. I am conducting my own investigations into the attacks on her person. At the King's order of course."

"Arya Dayne, my lord?" Ser Esmond said confused as he poured himself a cup and sat down. "I think there's been a misunderstanding. We have no Daynes here."

Milo chuckled, "Oh then I must have my information incorrect." He motioned toward the Maester, "This maestar has been hand picked by the King to treat his ailing mother. I have been ordered to escort him to the keep, and install him there. So I will need to enter."

"Ah," said Ser Esmond, rubbing his beard, "that is unfortunate. The queen has become extremely withdrawn these past years, and is absolutely resolute against receiving new staff or any guests. I would not like to upset her, you understand."
