"No," the man replies, "I do not think so."

"It just seems to me that you and your friends are taking an interest in me." The Prince replies. "I assume you know who I am."

"An assumption," says the first man.
"Is a hypothesis," says the second man,
"which flies in the face of contradictory evidence," the third man finishes.

Daeron rolls his eyes. "By the gods, who are you people?" He asked, his hand steady by the pommel of his sword.

"I would not do that, if I were you," the first man replies, removing from his waistband a small item which looked like a flute.
"Yes, it would be a mistake," the second man replies.
"Indubitably," adds the third.

"Then answer my question." Daeron replied, remaining unmoving, his eyes on the man with the object.

"If a man is simply told the answer..." the first man begins,
"to his question..."
"he can learn nothing," finishes the third again.
"however, if he..." The first says.
"deduces on his own," the second adds
"based on an examination of the evidence," the third continues,
"Then he will have grown in his knowledge," the first finishes.

"That's it," Daeron replied, drawing his sword. "I am Prince Daeron Targaryen and demand an answer to my question." He would have taken it differently but the hunt for the Golem was frustrating him a little and so his nerves were short.

As soon as the flash of steel was out, the fist man raised the flute to his lips and blew hard. A fine reddish powder soon filled the air, and covered Daeron's face and eyes, and it BURNED!! like a thousand sons it burned, and Daeron fell to the ground howling and scratching at his face.
"He's the Prince of Highgarden!" Cried the third man, too late to prevent the act.
"Indubitably," added the second.
"Oh dear... that is most unexpected..." replied the first.
"Don't rub your eyes," the second adds, "it will make it worse."

Daeron tried not to rub his eyes but it was increasingly hard. "Who the... devil are you people!?" He shouted. Maahor helped Daeron up while Codd stared at the men with a fierce look on his face.

"I am Sage Gunderson..." replied the first.
"I am Sage Utherson, " replied the second.
"I am Sage Mickelson," replied the third.
"We are of the College of Arts and Sciences, "One of them said, Daeron couldn't really tell which one his eyes were watering so badly.
"In Lannisport," another added.

Daeron rubbed his eye once, then immediately stopped. "And what are you doing here?" He asked, trying to open one eye. "You were staring at me."

"We thought it prudent..."
"To survey the home of the most recent..."
"attack.. lest"
"the kidnapper return to the scene of his crime..." They say, although who says what is a blur of black robed men in Daeron's screaming eyes.

"Show him the map..." Daeron murmured to Maahor, who took out the map with the spiraling patern. "Only one place where a girl was taken twice." He said. Daeron gritted his teeth. "How long is it until this stops?" He asked, pointing at his eyes.

They look at each other, and shrug their shoulders.
"It's somewhat experimental.. I'd be interested in interviewing you regarding its effects, so please make note of all your sensory inputs." Gutherson, or at any rate one of them, says.
"Have you considered the possibility..." one of the Sages asks,
"That the place to look is not where the beast has struck, but where it has manifestly... not struck?" He gestures towards the center of the spiral where there is a blank circular area.
