Benjen frowned.
"My questions are not nonsense, my lady. They are very serious and concern matters of great importance in the south, and to you as well. I am sure House Karstark wishes no ill-repute to fall upon it."

The woman's eyes darkened.
"Get out."

Benjen stood his ground.
"I will go after I have spoken to your maester. I just need to eliminate all doubt before I return to the south. I know House Karstark is loyal."

"You will leave now, or you will be forced to leave," the woman replies. "You do not get to come in here, and demand anything! Who the hell do you think you are?"
The boy started to cry. Two men in Karstark livery begin to advance forward... The lady raises her hand to slow them.

Benjen backed away.
"I am sorry for your distress, my lord and my lady, but I came here seeking honest answers. That's all. I pray you will send your maester to speak with me outside your castle walls. You will have my gratitude."

nce they were outside the great hall he turned to her.
"Now what? The princess was so sure that Karhold was the right place."

Lelianna smiled slightly, "What made her so certain?"

"That I cannot say. However, do you know of any other suns in the north save that of House Karstark?"

"We should go to Winterfell," Benjen said to Leilana. "It's the only thing I can think of. Perhaps the Old Gods will give us guidance."

Leilianna chuckled, "You do know that Old man Manderly turned it into a sept don't you? I don't know about here, but in Braavos, Gods are like siblings. They get along together alright... but it is usually better to not have them under the same roof for too long."

"I'm aware of that, but Winterfell has a godswood. Well, it did before it was a sept. Given what I've learned, though, Winterfell before its reinvention as a sept seems a likely place for our quarry. At the very least we might find someone who remembers the place as ti was, who can set us on the right track."
Benjen sighed.
"I'd hoped to achieve that here but those damned Karstarks were determined not to help us."

"Well..." Leilanna says, "I can't say I blame them, but off we go to Winterfell." She smiled, "onward and upward."

"Aye, to Winterfell. If Princess Joanna's suspicions hold true, the North is a more dangerous plance than we would ever imagine," he said. "It's not easy to be patient or humble in those circumstances. We need the truth of these people, Leilanna. For their own good as well as ours."

"Quite right," Lelianna says, "lead the way Benjen."
