The Forces of the Free Alliance have taken up positions, facing off against the combined force of Pentoshi and Braavosi troops blocking their advance. Quinno's Crossbows, with the Bloody Chickens are in the front as a screening force. The Undying Ten Thousand and the Red Swans are on the Left Flank, Love's Lancers of Lys on the Right Flank, backed by the Myrish Militia. The Tyrosh Militia is in the rear, acting as a reserve force.

Ser Kenneth rides in front with his men, the golden hued platemail with Rooseter Helm that Codswallow made shined brightly in the Pentoshi Sun.
The young knight was nervous having thrown up at least twice, he said at least twice since the second time he managed to choke it back down, before leaving his tent. There was something about leading men, even if they were sell swords, that made this occassion different then the fights he had done before.
He sought out Quinno before the melee began, "Good Day Quinno," Kenneth said hailing the man. "Any advice before we get this thing started?"

"Try not to get killed. That's always bad," Quinno said. He, like most of his men, was outfitted in mail, with a massive pavise shield, and a crossbow on his back. He did have a short sword on his hip, but Kenneth had an idea that it had not left its scabbard since... well probably ever.

"I'll keep that in mind," Kenneth said with a hint of a smile for the first time that morning.
"My understanding is that my men will be screening your Crossbowmen," Kenneth said already knowing the answer.
"In that regard I plan to hold the line and let you kill as many of the buggers as you can, I'll tell my men only to engage those vermin that close to 10 yds of our lines, everything further then that is for your boys."

"That's right. If they close, we'll be falling back to continue firing, passing through the force behind us, so don't get sucked into to a slugging match, cause I'm not waiting for you," Quinno remarks.
Just then the other force took the field. In the front of their lines, was a massive unit of some five thousand men mostly wielding spears and quilted armor painted into some kind of unit designation which Kenneth didn't understand.
Quinno snorted, "Peasants conscripts. They must be desperate!"
Behind this screen of conscripts, was the real meat of the enemy force. On the Left Flank, the banner of the Second Sons Sellsword Company, and The Unforgiven out of Norvos, together they numbered 1,000 men. On the Right Flank a large mass of mounted lancers, flying the Braavos flag, and behind them, Turok's Toughs, a company out of Pentos, number 500 men.

"Good luck Quinno," Kenneth said as he turned his warhorse back towards his men. The knight was probably a little over armored to be a sell sword but when the peasant spears were clinking off his plate he would probably be happy he was wearing them.
"All right Codswallow lets see how this armor you made me wears," he lowered his helm. Codswallow was right it did make him look like he had a giant cock for a head. Maybe his enemies would get one last chuckle before they died.
"See that line," Kenneth thundered to the men in front. "Do not engage in front of that line or you'll be shot by the crossbowmen."
"Jonathon keep an eye on the crossbowmen if they start to back up we need to also," Kenneth added.
"You got it boss," the Dwarf said glad to be at the rear of the company.

The young Westerosi Knight spends most of his time checking his men's lines making sure they do not get too far ahead of the rest of the company.
"Dardnell, regroup," Kenneth said correcting one of his men who had pushed too far ahead of the company.
Kenneth rode out to where the man was fighting cutting down a few militia men as he rode. "Fall back man or you'll be shot with our own bolts," he said.

Ser Kenneth cheers as the Pentoshi Militia flees the field he scans the battle field and seeing their forces struggling on the right flank, begins to turn his men in that direction just a minute before Quinno's herald signals the turn to hit the enemies heavy calvary.
"Get ready men, these ain't no militia were fighting now," he says as he moves his horse towards the new threat.

The men charged the Braavosi knights but the Shock Lancer commander turned in time and charged the Bloody Chickens. Without being ready for the charge a number of Kenneth's men fell and the line buckled.
"What are you chicken?" Kenneth yelled as he charged forward with his mighty cock-helm catching the sun light at just the right angle temporarily stunning the enemy with the sheer weirdness of his attire and allowing his men to rally.
As the last of the Braavosi army broke, Kenneth finally paused to catch his breath.
He looked for Quinno among the Crossbowmen.

Quinno was busy removing the string from his crossbow, and carefully oiling it up, and repairing any nicks or dings.
"Hail there Coyn. Not to shabby there, not shabby at all. I'm impressed. I've not a good screen like that in some time now."

Kenneth dismounts and takes a seat near Quinno. "Yeah but those lancers gave us some trouble, I am glad they didn't put them up against our center. Lost thirty men when they charged." Kenneth said shaking his head.

"Yes... the heavy horse... it is a problem, even here in the cities. I am glad I don't fight where you come from, horses every, I shudder to think," Quinno laughed. "Still it seems this job is not going to be so easy I think. We'll need more reinforcements if they really expect us to take Pentos."

"Its too bad we didn't capture some of the enemy maybe they could be convinced to fight, the Archon's already hired all the Sell swords they could find, although maybe there are some individual sell swords not with companies that would be willing to hire on?" Kenneth speculated.

"Its hard to capture a sellsword. They either die, or flee," Quinno said, "Although I wouldn't be surprised if some of those companies couldn't be hired away. They probably don't like the taste the got of our steel today."
