"Eleyna is getting better Princess, Cassana, well..." Aalina said, she smiled a little to encourage the girls.
"How are you Princess?" Aalina asked to one of her longest friends.

"I've never been better," Joanna said happily. "Daemon and I went riding and we had a swim too. We're really making up for lost time. I wish you could have that with someone."

Aalina was silent for a while.
"I never can Princess." She turned away from Joanna and concentrated on the girls. "I will be teaching them to dance later, if you want to come."

Joanna grinned.
"of course I will. It will be good to see their progress. Have you roped in two young lordlings to leave or will you have my girls partner one another? Or...shall you and I lead?"

"What we normally do is I will dance with one, while the other watches, then swap round. They critise each other and learn." Aalina said leaving the girls to their sewing after correcting Cassana's stitches.
"It is the best way, to let them critise each other, then I rope in a young man."

"Alright. Although, I wonder how two girls so young are able to tell if one another is doing things right or wrong."

"This is the quickest way that they learn." Aalina said. "Of course I do tell them first."

Joanna nodded.
"Fine, then. I trust your judgment. I learned these things under the guidance of my own septa and have hardly ever thought of my lessons since."
A childish cry rang out across the room. Cassana's face crumpled and tears ran down her cheeks.
"What's wrong, sweetling?" Joanna asked as she ran forward to hug her middle child.
"I pricked my finger," Cassana sobbed, displaying a bead of blood on her index finger.
Eleyna, two years older, rolled her eyes in contempt and said to Aalina "She's such a baby!"

Aalina smiled at Eleyna. "As were you when we started to sew. Granted you are better now, thank the mother, but you still have a long way to go. And what have I told you about calling your sister a baby?" She chided softly.

"But she is," Eleyna insisted. "And Leona's even more of a baby cos she's little."
Joanna sighed and lowered her voice so she could converse with Aalina alone.
"We'll start the dancing lesson soon. I'm of a mind to teach the girls the art of the blade if they are willing. Do you think they are ready yet?"

"They are your children Princess. If you will them to learn the art of the small blade then you should teach them. Just remember that they pray everyday with me. Once in the morning and once in the evening. I think they have alot to learn to become young ladies before that though."

"Yes, but they are very young still. We have time. I wasn't exactly a model young lady when I was little. Mother never forced me to spend more time than I wanted on pursuits that bored me, unelss they were strictly necessary."

"They should make their own choices at the end of the day Princess. It is not nice to have your live planned out for you." Aalina said, her face had a hard expression as she talked, remembering her mothers determination to save her son, and agreeing to let Aalina serve forever as a Septa.

Joanna frownwed.
"I am not sure many women ever do have a completely free choice, though Can you think of one who did?"

Aalina frowned. "Many a woman did, look at your sister for example. I dont think that she ran away against her will."
