Rhaenys glanced at her scribes, seated near the Iron Throen itself.
"Did you get all of that?"
The men nodded and looked at one another's papers. Rhaenys knew that anything one man missed would have been recorded by another.
"Yes, Your Grace."
"Good."
Rhaenys looked down at the men standing before her.
"Your words have been recorded, Lord Thatcher. I know that your testimony is to be trusted. I know that Lord Bracken has committed no treason. His wife and heirs will be safe. Where are they now?"

"At home your grace." Bracken replied, "I do not truly fear for them. Not much anyway. Frey will fuck me though."

"No doubt. You are welcome to bring your family to Court if you think they will be safer," Rhaenys offered. "It is your decision. However, Frey has no cause for complaint. You are his bannerlord but he is mine. My orders override his. Lord Thatcher acted in accordance with my wishes and so did you. There will be no repurcussions to you, I swear it. Frey. on the other hand..."
She looked at the two lords and at anyone else who was present.
"Where is Lord Frey?"

Bracken shrugged, "I am not his keeper, your grace. I appreciate your words, and hope they prove strong enough a shield."

Talyn bite his tongue. He had no good words for Frey.

"They had better, else Frey will suffer," Rhaenys answered,
She raused her voice to all around.
"Heed my words. Lord Bracken is hereby placed under my personal protection. No man or woman may harm him or his wife and family without fear of grave reprisals coming their way, so long as my edict remains in place. Offer harm or insult Lord Bracken or his kin and you offer harm to the queen herself. Tjhat is my solemn decree."
She looked at the two lords below.
"Frey will pay dearly if he retaliates, I promise."

Bracken just bowed.

"is there aught else the crown can do to resolve this matter?" Rhaenys asked the lords. "I wish to prevent trouble with Lord Frey but I will not condemn a man for obeying my orders."

"No your grace. We thank you," Talyn said, bowing his head again. "By your leave."

Edmure arrives in the Throne Room. His face is a mask of anger. He pushes past others until he's in front of the Throne, "Your Grace we need to talk."

Conwell watches Lord Dawnrose bull his way through the court with mild interest, and mutters something conspiratorily to Harald Jast.

The queen's gaze was cold and remote as she looked down at Lord Dawnrose from the heights of the Iron Throne.
"Lord Edmure, may I remind you that you do not speak thus to your queen? You may speak, nonetheless, but I would have you remember where you are."

Edmure ignores the crowded Throne Room, "Am I not a loyal servant. I first among the Lords of Westeros swore my allegiance to you. I asked for control of the Mander when you said wait, I did. After clearing the Cult from the lands I waited to see if that was enough. You said you desired me a bride. I found a woman that made me happy and then finally you gave me Lord Paramountship. As we spoke of the Shields I offered terms to Lord Greyjoy as he mocked me and ridiculed my House I said nothing. As I spoke of a different option you denied it. When all that was for nothing did I raise my voice did I show distaste. No!." Edmure took a breath, "After all the loyalty I have given you, you take Highgarden from the Mander from my kin. I ask why."
