"Do not use that word too hastily lord Dawnrose. I think Lannister is just testing us but I agree to your raising of troops. We need to show him that we aren't intimidated." He thinks for a moment. "I will take all the men from the Fleet and have them guard the walls as well."

"What of Lord Eustace do you know where he stands with this? Also I think the Queen should not return to Kings Landing it would be much safer if she went to Dragonstone."

"Her Grace must return because we need a Small Council meeting. There will be enough men her to defend her." Euric answered. "As for Eustace, I do not know, though I assume he is on his way to Kings Landing."

"So was Royce, Bolton, Frey and Lannister till they stopped. He would be a strong figure if he stays loyal."

"Then let us hope we can persuade him to our side." Euric answered. "Though there is no news of him calling up men, which is good news."

"Yes perhaps you should speak with him or ask the queen to do it when she returns here. Is there anything else I can do for you Lord Hand?"

"Not presently, lord Dawnrose. The Queen or myself shall call you when there is something."

"I shall put the men through some training exercises. Good day Lord Hand." Again Edmure left the hall.

Talyn Thatcher and Lord Bracken enter the throne room. Neither man looks very happy.

Rhaenys was plealsed to see Talyn but she had mixed feeligns about Bracken. She knew he'd committed no crime but his planned acquittal would certainly make Frey unhappy.
"Greetings,m my lords," she said. "I am glad you could be here. Lord Talyn, did you meet with any trouble upon the roads, or within the city itself?"

"Traffic along the King's Road is slow on account of small folk coming for the tourney. But there was no other trouble, your grace," Talyn replied with bowed head.

"Ought we have your grace?" Talyn asked, confused.

"No, but I feared he would make trouble for you regarding Lord Bracken's alleged treason to himself," Rhaenys answered. "I am pleased he has done no such thing. Perhaps the two of you could tell me exactly what occured."

Talyn looked at his Queen with an unhappy expression.
"What do you mean what happened? You know what happened. They were marching towards King's Landing with almost 8,000 men. Your grace asked her loyal subject to call their banners. I called mine. But my numbers were still very low. Only one thousand men, not enough to hold Harrenhal against that strength. And Mine was the only castle between them and your grace. As I had suggest it would be in the days when you offered it to Kyma." Talyn said, "I wrote letters to the Riverlander Lords, asking that they come join me to bolster the defense, and calling out Frey's treason against you, which is what is was, whether we are pretending it wasn't now or not. Lord Bracken and Lord Tully responded, along with a few others. Now it seems the traitor accuses us of treason, and Lord Bracken fears for the safety of his family and his holdings."
