Alla raised her eyebrows at the sellsword Lannister and his man-boys, but said nothing. She ordered a steak with onions fried in bacon grease, and more beer. "You're going to work for a sellsword now, Lady Aerie?"

Aerie snorted humorlessly. “Better than working for a—Hmm, that steak looks appetizing. Perhaps I’ll order one as well…” She took her time waving someone over and ordering a dish. When the task was complete she turned back to Alla with one of her signature smiles. “In all technicality, it would be working for the King, I think.”

"It's good," Alla nodded, spearing a slice of the steak on her dagger and biting into it. "Does that man work for the King, then?"

Aerie nodded, thinking that she would rather eat the wheel of a cart than the grease splattered meat Alla was spearing with her dagger--what was that anyways, a new fashion statement she had missed? "Since the King has been the voice behind the formation of this army, I should think that Jorah Lannister is 'working' for him. Either way, I assume His Grace is the one who suggested me for this post, so..." Her tone was almost a question.

Jorah snorted, "An honour? The position is not an honour, its a job. What we do is not honourable, it's a business. And yes, I was given a contract by Callen to raise and train this army. Do your job, and you'll get all the glory you deserve, but never think that I'm honouring you, I chose you because you're good at what you do, not because of the king. He just told me to make him a standing army, he left the rest up to me."
"Truth be told, your less of a second in command than the captain of your own force."

Alla said nothing. She was raised to knightly chivalry, and did not care for sellswords. She eyed Jorah with an expressionless face. She heard this one had fought well, but to call war a business, when it was supposed to be a knight's duty and honor...but he was no knight. She turned away and continued with her meal.

Aerie rolled her eyes and swirled her cup absentmindedly. “That’s an interesting outlook,” she said vaguely. “I’ll be sure not to view it as an honor any longer, Jorah Lannister, but you should know that not everybody thinks war a business. No matter. I accept.”

Jorah saw their expressions, and heard their words. "Never believe that it is anything but a business, and a bloody one at that. However that does not mean a treat it with dishounour. Our family has never broken at contract, and has never sacked a city. When I accept a new contract I obey the giver as fiercely as any lord's knight could, perhaps fiercer. And when I say that your position is not an honour Aerie, that does not mean you can't make it such. Glory and honour can be found any where, especially on the battlefield, more so than if you were on the small council, the Kingsguard, or any other order."
