The Sunset man applauded loudest of all. "Good show!' He called.

"Thank you, thank you," Symond grins, genuinely happy. But he does not forget himself in his excitement, and leaps back on to the platform in the center of the room. "Unless we have any latecomers, our last contestant will be providing us with our grand finale for the night. Welcome Rhett Flowers, bard of the Reach!"

Tallahar is in the crowd and claps for Symond. Walking over to him he places a hand on his shoulder, "And My good bard why was I not in your song about my famous stamina that Haley could tell you truly great tales about."

Alliser applauded and drank mead. He liked mead better than wine. Mead was sweeter.

Rhett Flowers bowed to the audience and then drew a bow of wood and horse-hair, and gently sliding it across the instrument, began.
"Lady--you've got what I need Maybe it is more than enough Oh my dear, sit a while with me Oh, you've got such touch"
Rhett started to change from a delicate sound to a faster, more rhythmic sound.
"There've been times I've been loved Even more, when I've been hurt Most days I've looked into open skies Always looking for the chance with you"
Even more than before Rhett digs into his music and gets from it the energy to start jumping and dancing in place. His voice gets higher, but the notes are still clear and fluid.
"Today I've lied and today I've listened How many times will I wonder about our love?
A man is mellow who knows that he's been missing Too many men can't see their own demise Through mistakes they've been a-missing What in life, they've sought to find And I really ought to know..."
As the piece ends, Rhett takes a bow.

Salemandrus claps loudly, his sleeves swirling with each collision of hand to hand.

Symond applauds, then steps up on to the stage next to Rhett Flowers. "And that is the last contender for the night! Now, all bards who competed, please come back to the stage so the crowd can crown our winner!"
The rest of the singers are greeted with loud cheers as they return to the stage. Gervis the minstrel, still a little groggy, has to be helped up. The croud begins chanting the name of their favorite.
OOC: Check out the general board to vote for the winner.

Beaumarin the Beauty arrives to find the contest over and the stage already being taken down. He curses the wine and the women that kept him too busy the night before to attend. Then, thinking on the women again, he decides it was worth it.
He stands on the corner and starts to sing for the passers-by.

Halon gets up from the back of the audience, smiling and shaking his head. This is what passes for entertainment in Kings Landing? he thought as he wandered out. The simple singer had been diverting but the others seemed to sing miserable dirges about loss or love. Pah! He looked forward to more ribald and cheerful merriment back at Kraken Hall.

The crowd begins yelling and clapping, louder and louder, until only one name can be heard.
"SALEMANDRUS! SALEMANDRUS! SALEMANDRUS!"
Symond bows elegantly to the Sunset Man and produces a crown of woven holly branches from within the folds of his tunic. He places it lightly on the man's masked head, then steps back to allow the Marvelous Salemandrus to bask in his glory.
"The Marvelous Salemandrus, King of the Singers!" Symond announces to the crowd's great approval. "What do you command of your humble subjects, O king?"
