Callen and a small party crossed the Blackwater over a ferry and entered the Kingswood. Callen had arranged so that this trip would give him an excuse to talk to Lord Flint alone. In the mean time Lord Bolton had been left behind, charged with overseeing the Northern Lord's accomidations for the tourney.

Lord Flint rode along side King Callen silently, waiting for the King to speak first.

Callen sent some men up ahead to look for a boar, then he turned in his saddle to face Flint. "Well what is it you wanted to speak to me about?"

Flint chews at his lip for a long time, "My Lord I am worried about your choice of Lyas Bolton as regent of the north. I do not think he will do what is right for the Northman."

"And why do you think that? After the rebellion I think the north needs a strong hand."

"Two strong a hand will destroy us too my lord. There is no give Lyas Bolton. He let his wife and three children be tortured to death rather then give in to Wull. I know that very act indevts him to you, but it is a mad act act none the less." Flint stutters his way through.

Callen leaned down and grabbed a wine skin. He pulled the stopper and took a sip, and then offered ito Lord Flint. "Some would call that stubborn loyalty Lord Flint, but I understand what you are saying. If it makes you feel any better I purposely made Lord Bolton's powers limited. He shall oversee the administering of the North, but the Stark child shall be raised in Winterfell, and when the boy turns twelve the regency shall be ended. Roose Stark will sit in a coucnil of northern lords who will advise him."

"Lyas plans on living at Winterfell with the boy. He is a cruel man, but no fool." Flint stammered

"No, Lyas has his on castle, let him stay in that. If it will make you feel safer I'll order Lord Bolton that no more revenge is to be taken on any rebel lords who have surrendered themselves. However, any further rebellion shall be punished. Also, when the boy is old to have learned the basics of lordship I plan to dissolve the regency and establish a council of advisors for Roose."

"I think as long as Lyas Bolton lives, Roose Stark is a walking dead boy." Flint snapped, "And you are a fool to think otherwise."

Callen snorted, "Of course I know that, and so does Lord Bolton. I've increased my presence at Winterfell, both to protect the boy, and to act as a dettrement. Lord Bolton is cunning enough to know that any harm that comes to the boy will be repaid ten fold. Isn't it ironic that the one is often safest when the danger is the greatest?"
