Ser Marlyne and 500 goldcloaks await the queen at the Gates. They stand in tight formation, saluting all who enter.

The queen was clothed in black plate with the Targaryen sigil inscribed on the breastplate. She carried Blackfyre at her side and wore a crown. A red cloak fluttered behind her and she smiled at the goldcloaks, acknowledging them with a wave. Her squire, Albar Stone, came forward.
"Open the gates in the name of Her Grace Rhaenys of the House Targaryen, first of her name, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Lady of the Rhoynar...."

The Gold Cloaks bowed as one, and their Commander Ser Marlyne walked to her side, "My men stand ready, your grace simply issue an order and we will die to the last to complete it."

"I hope I will not have to order your deaths, Ser Marlyne," Rhaenys answered wit ha smile. "How fares the city? And the Red Keep?"

"The city fares well, and the Keep has been readying itself for your return for almost a month now." Marlyne replied.

"There are no dangers to be found then?" Rhaenys asked.
She couldn't quite believe that she would be able to ride into Kings Landing and take the Red Keep just like that.

The man nodded, "The city stands strong, and prosperous. You have two thousand Gold Cloaks at your command, and we are proud to host a Dragon Queen yet again, your grace."

She smiled and leaned down from her mount to murmur "I'm thankful, but don't shout that too loud in Lord Selwyn's hearing, will you? The stags have an honoured place by my side."
Straightening, inwardly groaning at her increased bulk, Rhaenys smiled at the Goldcloak Commander.
"Good ser, lead us to the Red Keep, if you will, and tell me anything else I should know on the way."

The Commander mounted his horse, and led them to the keep. He did not have much to say, but pointed out several reconstruction projects, and then added offhandedly, "What shall we do with the Pits?"

"Restore them to their former glory. I've two dragons who will need to make their homes there, and one day there will be many more. Are there any houses fit for human habitation near the Dragon Pits?"

Marlyne's face darkened and he looked away, "I believe there is a barracks right by them. Has anyone informed you to what purpose Thatcher had the pits put to."

A barracks wouldn't do for the purpose Rhaenys had in mind. She frowned.
"No. What was it?"

"Prisoners... he has men and woman chained in the tunnels, and their corpses piled along side." He paled and looked away.

She gave him a disgusted look.
"Have the corpses been removed now? And any survivors?"

"No one has braved the depths. His men appear to have left... but... there is still much fear." Marlyne replied.
