"Lord Ragnor Greyjoy. I know, strange for one of us to walk in through the front gate, not looking for plunder or a fight. Was just wondering if you could do me a favor."

Lovelyn turned his head, and studied Greyjoy out of the corner of his eye, "Go on."

"Trying to get to the Islands. Been with the army for years, and our ships are long gone. So I was hoping that we might borrow one of yours."

"They are stationed here for a reason. To defend ourselves from Ironborn aggression. It seems you have been fucked by your people's own ways." Lovelyn replied.

"You have no idea. Look, I have but sixty-some-odd men. Even if we have a ship, we are no threat. I can pay for the service. I'll even throw in some decent Northern whiskey that we liberated."

"I am not afraid of you, but your kin." Lovelyn replied.

"So send some men along, drop us off, and bring the ship back. Most of the fleet is down at the Arbor, and I should hope you can make it to Pyke and back before they get this far."

"Sounds like a clever plan to steal a ship or weaken my force." Lovelyn replied.

"How about I give you a hostage? If the ship isn't back in a month, do what you will with him."

"Why wouldn't I be? Seems like a fair solution. I need to get to Pyke, you need a guarantee that I'm not going to fuck you over. Or I could just fight you for it, like Ser Ioun suggested."

"I am going to preform my duty to my lord. And that does not involve lending out his warships to landless Ironborn lords." Lovelyn replied acidly.

Ragnor bristles at the comment. "I'm certainly not landless, Ser. Just shipless, for the moment. And I doubt it is wise to insult the King of Salt and Rock lightly."

"I understand your point, but that is hardly a believable comment. The King of the Ironborn would not be begging. I doubt if you are truly Ironborn to be honest." Lovelyn replied.

Ragnor balks at the very idea. He pulls his axe from his belt and holds it out for inspection. "There. Kegsplitter, the axe of Erik Coldiron, my grandfather. Not far from here, he killed a hundred Northerners single-handed before a thousand more captured him. Now, tell me, if I were some madman claiming to be Lord Greyjoy, where in the hell did I get an axe made of Valyrian Steel?"
