Aurane looked startled.
"This is most disturbing. As far as I knew, the Queen has gone to Dorne. She left before I did and there was no sign that anything was wrong at the Red Keep when I left. Indeed it was because of your father's presence there, that I was comfortable with the prospect of our houses being joined though marriage."
He looked at Armand squarely.
"Given what she said to me, I would be surprised if she has suddenly given an order for your father's confinement. Someone else must be responsible, perhaps acting without her knowledge or consent."

"Perhaps," Armand conceded with another frown. "It is truly disturbing nonetheless, and I trust that all will be resolved, but at the same time I fear for my father for a reason I cannot fully explain."

Aurane nodded again.
"I understand. Would you prefer we leave the discussion of a possible union with my sister until this matter is resolved?"

"No, although I rather think a wedding would have to wait. If you are agreeable, I will enter plight-troth with your sister and we can be wed when things are more settled. Did she come with you to Duskendale, or did she remain on Driftmark?" he asked curiously.

"Daenarys is here in Duskendale. She and my other sister are in the quarters you provided." replied Aurane.
He smiled. "I see no reason why a plight-troth cannot be entered into for the moment."

"A plight-troth it is," Armand said, extending his hand to Aurane. "Feel free to stay here as long as you please.
At that moment, Aaron Royce burst into the room, wearing a dusty travel cloak and breathing heavily. "Brother we have to talk," he said, before noticing his brother's guest. He nodded respectfully to Velaryon. "My lord, If you will forgive me I must speak with my brother on an urgent matter, in private," he said, still catching his breath.

Aurane nodded back to Aaron Royce. He guessed that the matter concerned whatever was happening in Kings Landing. He turned back to Lord Armand.
"Thank you Lord Armand." he said formally. I shall inform my sister of the plight troth.
"Thank you for the offer, but I shall need to return to Driftmark, as my uncle Lord Aegon is awaiting my arrival. I shall leave you to confer with your brother."
He inclined his head towards both men and then exited.

After the last of Lord Royce's men-at-arms arrive in Duskendale, the Dun Fort's gates are closed and barred, though the gates to the city proper remain open so that its citizenry will not have their businesses interrupted.

Lord Euric arrives with his force outside the walls of Duskendale. "Hullo the keep! I wish to speak with your commander!" He shouts up.

Duskendale's gates creak open and three men ride out. The garrison is manning the city's walls, but it is obvious that a fight would be suicide at this point. Lord Armand Royce halts his horse halfway between the city and the crown's army, and waits for the opposing general to come forward.

Lord Euric rides forward, his personal guard surrounding him. "You surrender?"

"I don't suppose I really have a choice, Ser, I would not order my men into a suicidal battle. Have I your word that your soldiers will not maltreat my subjects while in occupation?" Armand asked dryly. As he spoke his eyes were scanning the army behind Euric, counting banners and making mental notes.

"Not a single person beyond these walls shall be harmed." Euric replied, pitying the soldiers on the battlements. "Yourself and your men will need to be incarcerated however."

Armand nodded. "That is the way of things."
He raised his left arm, and immediately the massive gates began to open, swinging outward. "Duskendale is yours, then," he said, turning his horse back toward the city. As he did so, he paused, and turned to look back at the Dornishman.
"Is it true the Queen's sister murdered my father and cousin?" he asked.
