"Hullo, precious one," said Shajura to her love, "Our new Lady in Waiting to the Queen thinks to buy our little house of pleasure out. I've offered to buy her out but she persists in thinking that she is safe."

Tilda enjoyed Falitir's flattery enormously but he didn't seem to be going anywhere that a respectable maiden like herself would be willing to go. When she heard snips of a conversation about books she took her leave of him and went over to the young red headed woman.
"Are you bookish too?" she asked Elena, "I have been driven almost mad by the lack of books here in King's Landing. I have been thinking of starting a lending library just so that I can get access to the volumes I particularly want. What are you interested in reading?"

"You know," said Tilda with a speculative gleem in her eye, "I have long thought about how to make more than one copy of a book at a time. Any suggestions on how that might be done?"

"Safe?" Mally gave Shajura a hurt look. "Is the lovely Shajura thinking evil thoughts? I assure you, you could not pay the price for my house. However, you have refused to answer my question. I am willing to offer more than you "fair price", yet Shajura does not give me an answer."

"Shajura is quite happy running her business on her own, thank you all the same," replied Shajura, "Mally is sure she doesn't want to be bought out?" Shajura lifted a finger and a Dornish servant brought a tray of chocolates. Shajura took one at random and offered the assortment to Mally. "We have ways of rewarding our friends."

"Really?" Mally raised an eyebrow. "And what rewards are these?" She waved away the chocolates.

"If you wished to stay in the business discretely, we could offer you a silent partnership in our new joint business. We can also provide a steady supply of some of the finest goods in the Seven Kingdoms."

Mally smiled. "I will be glad to take this partnership. But I'm afraid you don't quite understand - my house is too valuable for me to sell. However, tell me what this joint business is about. I like the idea of being gifted Dornish silks and wines as well. Perhaps in return I might give you a share of my profits."

Elena smiled at Tilda as she thought a moment, "I have always loved the histories. I can not think of a way to make multiple copies besides Serveral Maester's copying it at once. I have been to Asshai, and even they do not have any mystical means to accomplish that task."
Falatir looks at Elena and starts to smile, but there is flicker of warning that crosses Pier's face so fast that Falatir focuses back on Tilda, "Tilda Avalon, I have one of the ten remianing editions of Sage Herret's Valyrian series. Have you ever had the opprutunity to embrace his words. They way he tells of the rise and fall of Valyria, it is like it is happening to you. His prose makes cray and laugh with that long dead country." His eyes glisten with tears as he thinks of those books.

"Our Dornish silks and a partnership would be in exchange for you giving up your house, of course. You don't need the name "Mally's Whore House" to be bantered about every member of the court, you don't have Princess Emelia to protect you. Consider it a...rebranding, disguising your interest in such a business. You could of course if you wanted have some managerial interest in the new business."
A voice floated across the room "Do it!" said Tilda's disembodied voice. "You're ruining the family's honor."

OOC: Sorry Lilith, there's no way Tilda could have heard that.
"Isn't it convenient to hide behind the Princess," Mally smiled. "I am no longer directly involved in the running of my house, so there is a distance between me and my old profession, but I will still own it, although very discreetly. Do you think courtiers have never owned brothels, Shajura? I am not the first, nor will I be the last. Sorry, but I will not be moved on that. Yet why don't you let me buy you out? You and the Princess will be moving back to Sunspear, I believe. You will not be able to control the quality of your house from so far away - and forgive me, but you have no place in the Six Kingdoms. King's Landing's business should be protected for King's Landers." Mally smiled sweetly.

"Herrett's Valyrian Series?" says Tilda in a whisper most women saved for the finest Dornish silk. "I have long heard of it. Of course Scopius of Oldtown bases his own history of Valyria heavily on Herrett but I've never been sure what was introduced and what was taken directly from the original."
Thoughts swirled around Tilda's head. "Lord Falitir, would you do me the great honor of letting one of my scribes transcribe the book." A speculative gleam entered her eye. "I am sure the value of your original would go up once a copy is available."
She kept an eye on Piers and Elena. Piers obviously wanted to keep Elena for himself as he was warning the charming Lord Falitir away from her. A much better prospect for a young widow than an old married roue like Lord Piers. Elena was lovely and the first woman she'd met so far in King's Landing that she felt could really be a friend, some of the sisterhood she'd grown up with that had disappeared when they had all come to King's Landing.

Shajura grew tired of the conversation with this avaricious little bitch. She called for the chocolates again, ate one with lip smacking delight and found herself mysteriously called to her Princess's side. Interesting information that Mally had disclosed, however. She was moving away from her business.

Mally tried to hide her grin, but failed. She beckoned over her maid and whispered her to take a message. The maid nodded and left.

"So what is that little bitch smiling about?" whispered Shajura to Emelia. She in turn ordered one of the chocolate bearers to follow the maid that had just left.
