At the sound of the other woman's voice, Alysanne turns, giggling, to Mally. "It is, yes." She studies Mally carefully, remembering her sat at the queen's side. "And who might you be m'lady, I don't believe I've had the pleasure of meeting you yet?"

Mally smiled, as if she and Alysanne shared a secret. "My name is Mally Avalon, my lady. I am no highborn, in truth, but the gracious Queen has no such requirements of her ladies. My cousin is Ser Anselm of the Kingsguard."

Alysanne beamed at her, though she was slightly confused. "Ser Anselm Flowers!? Are you from the Reach then? It's just Avalon is not I name I've heard before."

"My uncle, Ser Arguel - Anselm's father - has roots there. My side of the family is from the Vale of Arryn, however. But I have heard the Reach is beautiful." There was that smile again. "I would love to visit it one day, and see its famed roses and pleasure barges."

"Oh, the Vale!? That explains why I do not know your family." A brazen glint crept into her eyes. "For sure the Reach is beautiful, but you get awfully tired of roses after a while. Though for only a short visit I'm sure they are quite wonderful." She laughs again, taking a glass of wine proffered by a passing servant girl. "But that is quite beside the point, and my life is terribly boring compared to yours. From the Vale to the Queen's handmaid! Quite what did you do for that to occur?"

"Oh, I've been in the city for quite some time. I know it very well now. Quite a fun town, King's Landing. I was here before I moved to the Red Keep. And as to how I became one of the Queen's ladies, I can only thank the Seven," she said teasingly.
She glanced at the Queen, who was talking with the Hand's wife Lady Becca. She lowered her voice, as if sharing delicious court gossip. "The girl I replaced, Lady Carolei Brune, was caught stealing. Stealing! Of course, the Queen dismissed her at once. I am a fun girl, and the Queen likes amusing company." Mally winked, and also took a glass that a page had refilled.

"Stealing! Oh, that's perfectly awful! Well, I think the queen was rather lucky to find such good company to replace her with."
(ooc - Got to go, I'll try and get back on later but I really don't know what time it will be, so just ignore me till then.)

"So, Mally. How have you been?" Mortimer asked, his tone serious, but a smile plastered to his face for appearances.

"Thank you," Mally smiled. Lady Hogg's daughter then introduced herself to Alysanne, who turned to speak to her.
Mally turned to Mortimer. "I've been well," she said, with a similar charming smile. "I heard about Fryse. I am very sorry, Mortimer."

He sighed. "The poor bastard. His whole life had been hard. Cast out of his family, nearly killed a have a thousand times, and to have his life taken away by one of his friends, over something I was in the wrong for."
He clenched his fist. "This resolves me however. My men are my men, and none of them," his eyes flicked to Mally. "None of them can be my friends." He coughed. "It causes too much heartache."
He took a glass of wine from a passing servant. "Such is the way of a Ganglord, I am learning." He smiled at her. "I would meet you tonight, Mally. And you will be payed." He lowered his head.

"Fryse had a hard time," Mally acknowledged. "I am glad you are learning how to manage your men."
She looked at him for a long moment, and sighed. She spoke so no one would hear. "Oh Mortimer, such bad timing. My position at court would be at stake...if the Queen cared." She winked. "And she doesn't. You may come to my chambers tonight. Make sure you bring the gold." She whispered the price.

Mortimer paled a bit, but nodded. "Well!" He announced loudly. "I must be off, I have quite a bit of performing to do today!"
With that he shuffled himself out the door.

Mally gazed after him, laughed airily and shook her head.

Spinning a gold chain around his fingers own way until it is tight, and then unspinning it off his fingers, Piers Bettley entered the room. Wearing his finest blue and golds. The master of coins is flanked by Falatir Razoon, Lysian ambassador and merchant lord. Razoon is dressed in the latest fashion of Lys, made of silks and laces.
The two walk to the queen and bow deeply in turn, each kissing her hand and giving her two presents for her children. Then smiling warmly the two men backed away. Looking about Piers noticed Aerie Blackwood, he immediately approached her. Falatir followed after Piers, but managed to make intimate eye contact with every beautiful women at the feast.
Piers asked Aerie, "How was your trip dear girl? Captain Dakken and I are old friends and he wrote the most interesting letter about your travels together. Also I should tell you, that a young man who once worked for me has come back home. He mentioned your name too."

Becca Arryn enjoys the festivities as best she can -- still recovering herself from the delivery of Breyn -- but keeps an eye on this Mally Avalon. How this girl came from nowhere to suddenly be Anya's closest confident...it seemed curious. All the more curious that she was from a Vale house and yet seemed to have no ties to Royce or Arryn.
An intriguing new figure in the secret politics of the court, to be sure.
