A lone horse rides into Lord Harroway's town, the rider looking dirty and well-traveled. He wears simple leather under a chainmail shirt and a one-handed sword at his hip. His tunic bears no sigil, only dirt and stains.
He rides through the town, looking for the queen's One Hundred Companions. When he finds them he announces that he must speak with the Queen, for he has urgent news from Harrenhal.

"I'm sure you do. I'm beginning to know Selwyn myself, but it takes time and we've had some...awkwardness between us. It strikes me that your brother is not over fond of conversation."
She paused and studied Eustace.
"Would I be correct in speculating that you and your brother are not close, my lord?"

"Her Grace is talking terms with the lords stationed ehre. Baratheon and Royce and um...Mallister. She'll see you soon, i'm sure."

The hooded man atop the horse nods his understanding. "Thank you ser, I will wait here for her to finish her talks."
He dismounts and leads his horse off to let it graze while he waits.

She paused and studied Eustace. "Would I be correct in speculating that you and your brother are not close, my lord?" Eustace smiled, "That would probably fall far short of the actual situation. I have tried to grow closer, but Selwyn has always been a harsh judge of those close to him. Holding up an impossible standard some times."

"They stand with me. But we can not go to war to raise a man who will not claim his seat." Brynden shook his head, "That is foolishness." "Aye, I agree, but it may be even more foolish to let a woman such as his wife rule the Iron Throne. And what of their children? Will her daughter succeed her in the Dornish custom?"

She couldn't help but return his smile.
"Would that hold true of women as well as blood kin? I had the impression from our conversations that Selwyn adored his wife, or is it the case that he judged her harshly and only now sees her in a different light?"

Brynden nodded, "Well as to that, I really do not care. It is not her sex I object to but her age." He smiled, "My mother, and sister would have been far better Kings, then Rodrick was."

"No he loved her, right from the word go." Eustace looked to his right, "He would write he silly poems, and I remember once he fell into a rose bush trying to give her flowers." Eustace chuckled, "Selwyn wanted to marry her for the longest time but it was not until mother and her met that it was allowed to happen. Father wanted to marry him to some Braavosi he owed a lot of money too. But Mother married him secretly under his nose. Then Father backed down." he sighed.

"Once the deed was done...it would have been much harder for the king to protest," she remarked. "I appreciate your opinion, Lord Baratheon. It's good to learn how others see my future husband. Was he different before the scarring?"

Not Really." Eustace replied, "You know how he is, tight lipped as prim Septa to almost every one. But to those he likes he opens up and shares. He and that rough sense of humor of his."

Rhaenys laughed slightly.
"Yes, I was taken aback by that. I'd thought him lacking in humour at first. I hope you will be my friend, Lord Baratheon. I need as many friends as I can find, and you are uniquely placed to help me learn how to deal with Selwyn. For that, and the support you gave me against the lords Royce and Mallister, I will always be grateful."

"It is an honor to serve my Queen." Eustace smiled, and added, "Not many know this but with my father in drunken stupors he let my mother practically run the Realm for him. And he could never tell her no. So I am used to serving an all-powerful queen." He chuckled, "Just promise not to spank me, and you have me at your complete service."

She laughed louder then.
"I like you, my lord. I have had too little levity since coming to Westeros. Your company will be most welcome. What skills do you possess?"

"A large hammer and a quick tongue." Eustace replied, "I have practiced my skills endlessly, and I am good at war. I am not a natural commander, but there are few stronger or more deadly. My hammer lands with precision and strength." He smiled at her, "And I must say, you have been a pleasant revelation."
