"No your highness, I would wish no harm on your sister. I suppose I was only taking a soldiers point of view, forgive me. We have no choice then, meeting with Thatcher is our only option, that and to pray everything works out for us. We know at the very least that we have more allies than we could have thought. My men and myself are ready should we need to storm the walls however. Do you wish us to simply remain idle?"

"You must, for now," she said. "I cannot take you with me to Harrenhal, else I would certainly do so. Stay ready, though, and if any of Lord Mallister's followers can be persuaded to join your force instead of his that would be useful. Lord Mallister is not too pleased with the current situation."

"It will be as you say. My men grow restless though, I myself onl came in person in hopes of learning more of what is going on. How did the talks with Lord Mallister go? I would very much like to have some of his men, though i do not think he wil easily let go of them. Would you have me walk among them and take what men i can?" Oswell smiled at the thought of bringing more men of the Riverlands over to his cause.

"You can do so, yes, but do it discreetly. I don't want to antagonise Mallister more than I must. It's bad enough that I had to give the Freys the Riverlands, as well as the fact that Mallister has so far refused to fight for me. Lord Baratheon has sworn to our cause, Mallister and Royce have not. The best they could do was to agree not to fight us."
She paused.
"Speaking of which...I am sorry that I could not grant your wish to be made Lord Paramount of the Riverlands, Lord Tully. In time perhaps there will be other ways to reward your loyalty, but I must ask for your patience."

"I will of course be...," mention of the Frey's stopped him mid-sentence. His face reddened, anger and frustration boiling to the surface unchecked.
"You gave the Freys the Riverlands?! Of all the lords in Westeros why the Freys?! Was that their price to let you south, to give them my rightful claim?" Oswell was furious, all that he wanted had been simply given away to the worst lord in the Riverlands.

"It was," she said unhappily. "Even in Sothorys we heard of the infamous Freys. I don't like it any more than you do, but it was necessary. I could not storm Moat Cailin when there was a bloodless path to victory. However, know this, my lord. If the Freys play me false, you are the Riverlord best placed to replace them. Besides, there are other ways to reward loyal men, when the time comes."

Oswell glared at her, "S now you would have me wait for the Freys to play you false? The lordship of the Riverlands should be mine and you know it. I have have sacrificed much for you my queen, my entire family is dead! We have followed you without question yet you give away the only thing I ask of you to Freys?" Oswell paced, trying to get control of himself. "And what would you offer me for my allegiance now that the what I want is out of reach?"

She fought to keep her temper. They were both in the right and she knew it, even if Lord Tully did not.
"How about a new title? Something between that of Lord and Lord Paramount?"

Oswell's anger was ebbing, but he was still unhappy about what the Queen had done. He was loyal to the core, but it did not mean he had to agree with everything she did. "Titles can be but empty names, handed out to please or bribe. You know you need not bribe me to for my loyalt, so what is it you would offer me?" Oswell shook his head, "I only wanted what was mine, now all I have is Riverrun."

Rhaenys sighed because she had been forced to favour someone she mistrusted over someone she knew to be loyal.
"If a title won't serve, what would you have of me? I've already explained why you can't have the Lord Paramounship, much as I would like to give it to you. Is there anything else you'd like? A noble bride, lands, a keep? Anything at all?"

Oswell shook his head. He did not want to be having this conversation now, not when there were more important things to be done. He was not like the other lords to make demands at every turn when men were to die in the days to come. "I have a keep, though it may be in ruins and need be rebuilt and I have the lands that go with it. A wife may be a start, but I do not believe this the place to discuss such things. We are at war, as well we both know and I apologize for my outburst. You know as well as I why I would find such news bothersome but there is nought to be done about it for now. I only ask one favor of you: when we have routed the Cult, and taken back our lands I ask that you remember that I was not among those that bombarded you with demands and requests. I have been more loyal than most, and have followed your every order."

"I know," Rhaenys answered. "I am grateful, don't ever htink I'm not. I deeply regret that I cannot grant your greatest wish , but I do give my word that I will remember your loyalty. And, it's a small thing, I know, but the Crown would be pleased to assist you if Riverrun does need rebuilding."

Oswell smiled, despite his feelings of frustration. "Help rebuilding Riverrun would be most welcome, gods knows I have yet to even begin to think of how to do it.' Oswell shook his head and sighed, "I understand the position you are in your highness, but do not expect me to be happy about it. If there is nothing else I will find what I can in Mallister's camp."

"Thank you. I am pleased you understand the situation. I don't want to make you any promises that I cannot keep. Had I guessed the Freys would ask for the Riverlands, I would have told you from the beginning and spared us both the trouble."
She smiled sadly at him and took a ring from her pouch. It bore the three-headed dragon of her house.
"Show this if you are challenged by Mallister or his supporters. It will show that you are acting with my authority. You should also make it clear that you are not 'stealing' Mallister's men, merely calling upon them to do their duty by the realm and their queen."

Oswell took the ring, "Thank you, this will help me quite a bit." Oswell bowed, "Thank you for your time, ad again I apologize for my outburst." Oswell turns to leave but looks back before pulling the flap back, "There was a maid, she served your mother I believe. If I recall correctly her name is Daenerys, I am not sure of her last name. If a marriage was to be arranged, she would be of interest to me. Just a thought perhaps. Good day your highness, and thank you again." With that he left to retrieve his horse and pay a visit to the Mallister camp.
