Mally opened a bottle of Shajura's wine and began drinking heavily.

As customers began making merry in the pleasurehouse, Mally pulled on a cloak and left the house.

Mally returned, oblivious to the merriment around her. She went up to her rooms and buried herself in her bed after locking the door shut. She resolved never to love a man again.

Tilda visited the next morning, when whores were asleep and the proper and righteous ruled the streets.
She took one look at her sister and shook her head. "This way of life is killing you," she said rather sadly as she made pancakes for her obviously distraught sister.

Mally put her head in Tilda's shoulder and started crying for the first time since the Red Keep.

"Ah, love," she said, holding Mally in her bony but warm arms, "What ails you? You were so proud and sure. You were right about women needing to make their own money, I followed you on that. I can support you if you need to get out."

"I don't need support, but thanks." Mally finished eating the pancakes. "This makes more than enough money for me. Can you believe I hate men, although they're the reason I'm becoming rich?" She laughed humorlessly. "You'd better go now, Tilda. We get all kinds of faithless types here." She got to work.

Quickjack Rivers strides into the brothel, followed by a few tough looking lackeys. He looks much the same as he did in the days when he was slitting throats for Dane's gang, with the same stained grey coat and twitchy hands, but he is wearing a very fine pair of new boots.
Quickjack takes in the women around the room and smiles. "This looks like it'll do. Ben, go find whoever runs this place and tell 'em they have a customer."

Mally came to the reception room and smiled when she saw Quickjack. "If it isn't the leader of the Bottom's Boys," she said with a mischievous grin. "I run this house. Are you sure you can afford my place, Quickjack? We offer more than just girls." Though her flirtatious smile remained, Mally's eyes were speculative.

Quickjack looks at Mally for a moment, as if wondering why she looks so familiar. Then he barks a laugh. "If it isn't Dane's little whore! Who'd you have to sleep with to get the gold for this kind of place?"

"Never heard of Elias?" she said, sitting him down at a table in the next room. She didn't want any of the lordly customers to see him or his men. "He used to own this house. Then I found a big lord who bought the house for me when Master Elias died." She leaned back and gave another charming smile. "Now, is it girls you're here for, or something else? And can you afford it? The lowest price you can get for any of my girls is thirty dragons in gold, and a virgin will cost you more."

"Thirty dragons?" Quickjack laughs, "You sure think a lot of your wares, don't you?" Despite his condescending tone, Quickjack's eyes remain fixed on Mally's curves.
"But I can afford it easy. I lead more than just the Bottom's Boys now. Though I hear there's other things you do here. A place to meet where the goldies don't know a thing. You got a place like that?"

"I do," Mally leaned forward, looking into his eyes and smiling seductively. "That will cost you forty dragons and eighty stags. Per hour."
