"To help the whore," Mally said bitterly. "What a good Master of Laws. I should light candles to the Father and the Maiden in thanks.
"I already offered to come with you while maintaining this establishment, Lord Stark. I will not give this up. So you can take that compromise or take yourself out of here." She felt like crying. Here he was after months of longing, but now with an impossible set of conditions.

"Yes to help a whore, that is what you have chosen Mally not me." Benjen shooks his head slowly, "I am made of Iron and can not bend. Yet there will always be a place for you at my Manor. I am going away, I think and if you change your mind there will be a place. Even if I die, there will be a place open for you."
Benjen turns and begins to leave.

"You're so stubborn!" Mally cried. "Just wait a moment! Can't you at least guarantee you'll never throw me out on the streets again? On your honor?"

Stopping Benjen turned back to her, he considered her words for a long time, "No, but I can guarentee I will not if you do not commit some crime, or...errr... other transgression worth that as punishment. I am fair, but I could not allow a theif or murderer to work for me."

Mally still clung to her conditions. "But the ganglords," she said. "I'm the only one who can keep track of their movements and plans because they meet here. Let the house stay open for that just cause, at least! How else will you know what they're doing? The King's ignorance caused that Blackwood girl to go missing!"
"And I will not commit a crime in your house, my lord." Please don't say kissing you is a crime. But Mally knew it would be futile.

"Under the King's new orders we are just killing these men where ever we find them. I do not think we are worried about their whispering, just point them out and we stomp them out." Benjen looked at her hard, "I am sorry Mally, I can not allow you to work here and there at the same time. A part of me wishes to give way, but that is weakness and I must be strong."

Mally came closer. She knew it was dangerous, but she felt reckless. "I wouldn't work here," she pleaded. "I'd work with you, I wouldn't set foot here. But my girls would report to me. And you can't find all of those men, my lord. Some of them hide out and only communicate through my house."

"I am sorry, Mally. But I do not negotiate. I have set my conditions. I will not break anymore. I can not." Benjens stands firm.

"I'm not asking you to break," Mally gazed up at him with big eyes. "I'm just asking you to bend a little bit."

"Those are the same thing to a man like me Mally." Benjen looks at the walls and studies them intently.

"Oh please," Mally looked at him beseechingly, knowing he could see her even though he was determinedly staring at the walls. " I want to go with you, my lord, but I can't neglect my duty as a citizen. What if the Roaches are secretly plotting to kidnap Prince Steffon?"

Looking back at her, he says, "I do not see why your girls could not report directly to the goldcloaks..." He shakes his head once hard, "No, I am not here to discuss this. I have drawn a line in the dirt. To you it is just a line in the dirt' to me it is a cliff's edge. Please do not push."

Mally sighed. "If we reported directly to the gold cloaks, any fool would quickly realize what we were doing. The gold cloaks are as subtle as an aurochs thundering after a cow."
She saw his face, and then asked quietly, "At least tell me why it is so important to you. Perhaps then I'll be persuaded." She paused. "I know my lord must be...worried. We have heard that there is war in the north. I am sorry, my lord." When she saw how tired he looked, Mally's face softened.
"Maybe I'll come with you," she said hesitantly.

"You may not come, I do not know when I will be coming back. My family is being held gostage and I am willing to do what ever is necessary to save them." Benjen looks at the door.

OOC: Sorry I wasn't at the computer
"I'm not innocent to the sort of men you're fighting against. I was Dane's whore remember? When you've been around men like Dane and Quickjack, you harden pretty fast. Take me with you, my lord. I could protect you."
