Walking up to her, Lord Stark looks pained, he says "I am sorry Mally. I should not have sent you away. Please forgive me and come back." His eyes dance around and he frowns.

OOC: Nobody is in the living room except Stark, his guards and Mally.
"What do you mean?" For a moment Mally looked surprised, but then her eyes narrowed. "My lord, I have a fine business here. I make my own money. I'm proud of myself. Why should I go back and be a maid in a house where I'm not wanted?" Her green eyes flashed, but she seemed to be struggling with something.

Stark faces grows hard, "May be making good money, but it is at the cost of your soul. Girl listen to me. Come away from here now."

"And go where? Back to my father's cottage in the Vale, scrubbing and farming and driving ox-carts up to Heart's Home? No thanks. I like being my own mistress."

"You can run my manor house, you seem to have the skills of organization required." Bnejen still looked uncomrtable, but also a tad desperate, "When I sent you away I did not expect this for you Mally."

"You mean...like a head housekeeper?" Mally looked at him for a long moment. "What would your lordly friends say? Mally the whore is the Master of Laws' housekeeper?"

Benjen snickers derisively, "I do not have any Lordly friends. I can not stand these southern Lords." He stops a moment refocuses and then continues, "But yes they probably would say that. I do not care what they say. Do you?"

"No," Mally said scornfully. "It's just that my lord hates loose women."
But still she looked wary. For a long moment she didn't speak, but then she said, "You have thrown me out before, my lord. I cannot trust that you will not do it again. So I will say this. I will come and work for you - but I will still own my house of pleasure. If we come to a disagreement, or if you want me out, I will still have something to fall back on." She raised her chin. "What does my lord say to that?"

For a long moment Benjen stared at the ground, then he raised his head and answered, "No I am sorry but I can not agree. What goes on here is wrong. I can not have some one working for me involved with this operation. Please reconsider..." He seems to want to say more but is at a loss for words.

"I'm not gambling my life and work for your offer, my lord. Why are you offering to help me anyway? The last time we met, you said you couldn't have me near you. You threw me out when I asked for protection. Why are you suddenly ready to let the whore to come back and keep your house?" She spat out the last sentence.

Benjen looked at her, "Because you are a whore. It is my fault, I know I should have been stronger. I should not have banished you like that. You crossed a line, but I overreacted. It was a mistake, and I am here to rectify it."

"How kind of you, my lord," Mally said mockingly. "Just like my good sister. She wants to make me a septa too. My damnation isn't your fault, Lord Stark. I was a whore before I met you, did you know that? I was Black Finger Dane's whore." She wasn't sure why she was telling him this; in her rage, she couldn't stop herself from saying it. "And then a big lord bought me this house, and I report to him on what goes on here. Ganglords meet here, did you know that? But I'm not their friend anymore. I report on all they do to my big lordly friend, and in return he lets me keep this house and gives me gifts now and then."

"I do not care about any of that." Benjen replies, "You were my liege woman and I treated you wrong. I can not support you in this endeavor. Yet I need to aid you. Are you sure this is the life you want? If there is any doubts in you at all, you should come with me. Please calm yourself and think about it. Please think hard."

"You need to aid me?" Mally repeated tightly. "You need to? Or do you want to? I don't hold you to any oaths, my lord." She sounded almost bitter.

"Did I make any oaths to you. I think not." Benjen stared at her, "You play with my words like a cat with string. You are trying to make yourself angry. So you can blame me for refusing my offer. Put aside your anger. I am here to help." He seems to be growing a mite more testy after every word.
