Spring is in the air and blossoms begin to appear as the group gets further southward. While her husband had to spend some time chatting up the small council, he often was able to ride next to Lilith and Petra, both of whom had opted for horses rather than closed carriages. Lilith grinned at him and winked, "Just occasionally I feel like a young May Maid enjoying my first blossoming."

Piers grinned at Lilith, "You look a May Maid, wife." Leaning far out of the saddle he grabs a handful of flowers and starts putting them in Lilith's hair, "I think that is more appropriate." He winks.

Petra notices a flower that has fallen out of her mother's hair and grabs it before it falls to the ground.
"And you are the May king!" she cries, giving him his flower.
Piers grins and sticks in a small slit designed for flowers. It is a wilting daisy that wobbles in the wind giving him a disarmingly countrified look. Petra claps with delight at the sight.

When Petra had ridden off with Xavier, Lilith took the opportunity to talk to her husband. "Baldwin would have been proud that Allard died fighting, even if he would have grieved for his loss."

Piers turns his blank face to Lilith, "You did not know Baldwin well at all. He held honor in contempt. He would have wanted to talk Allard out of trouble. And knowing him he would have done it."

"Love," she said softly, "Allard was in trouble because he murdered Baldwin and then tried to usurpe the power of the throne. I know that Baldwin loved the miscreant but he could not haved talked Allard out of this trouble." Fearing her husband's sense of guilt she added, "No one could have. He is not Petra to be protected, he was a man who travelled down every wrong path offered him."
