Talyn Thatcher rode out from the surrounding swamp on a lone black horse towards the ancient citadel. In the darkness nearby three-hundred men watched and waited to see what the response would be.

He stopped where he was.
"My name is Talyn Thatcher! I'd like to speak to whoever is in charge," he yelled as loud as he could.

There are some movements on the keeps walls. And the gates open to admit ten warriors. They ride forth and stop just shy of Thatcher, "The Traitor's Son?"

Talyn eyed the men carefully, trying to place their region of birth from their looks and accents.
"I am, whose asking?"

"I am Ser Paulson Frey... and I have been told that if I allow a single hair on your head to be cleft my family will die screaming." The Frey sneered at him, "So you are free to pass, but you are not welcome."

"Who has your family?" Talyn asked, his voice inflection showing genuine concern.

Frey snickered, "They are alive and free in the Crossing." He sneered again, "But that only makes them a hair safer I think."

Talyn nodded, "I understand." The sellsword removed his dagger from its sheath, and reached up to his head, cutting off a lock of his hair, and throwing it to the ground.
"Shhh...." he said confidentially, "don't tell anyone. Are you in command of Moat Cailin? where are the Reeds?"

Frey shook his head, "Lords Frey and Reed command, they are both in the keep. I came out to see if your words were true. You fit the description. Follow me in."

Talyn nodded, and followed the Frey man inside the keep.
"how long have you been here?" he asked as he surveyed the area, trying to get a guess of numbers and dispositions.

"A month or two." Frey replied, there are just over three thousand men in the keep. Frey avoids the towers and makes way for the other exit on the opposite side of the keep.

"Whose side are they on?" he asked, gesturing the well defended walls.
