"I didn't say it had to be painless," Warren responded, but gave a roll of his shoulders regardless. "I won't be one to deny you your revenge, or justice, or what have you."

Talyn shrugged, "Hardly matters who does it, one way or the other, we have to take King's Landing back. So what's your story?"

"Me?" Warren spoke in an amused, light tone. "Just a lord, trying to return home. I'm in a rough spot, or so I'm told. The other Lords of the West don't seem to favor me too much, an up jumped bastard lord who was quick to side with with your father's Riverland and Mander armies. That doesn't mean to say the lords of other realms ought be fond of me either. I'm still of the West, of those who refused to call up their troops, and I'm still as much a bastard in their eyes," he said with a lazy half-smile.

"Well, being here for this will mean a lot. Specially for the Queen and her advisors. I think anyone who wasn't here will find themselves in the cold when things return to normal." Talyn suggested.

Warren nodded. "Is that why you're here, Talyn?" he asked, using his first name with a galling causality.

Talyn looked mildly disgusted. "no," he said simply.

"That's good to know," he replied, smile drooping a tiny bit. "Don't take any offense by my question. It's will be hard to judge your motives, you know. Especially for the Queen. I merely wondered."

"No offense taken." Talyn replied. "And I'm not a lord, to be concerned with the thoughts of Queens."

"I think any man in your position, be he lord, knight, or common man, ought be concerned with every one of the Queen's fluttering little whims and thoughts."

Talyn snorted, "My position? bah. The worst thing she can do is cut my head off."

"And deny you the pleasure of seeing father brought to justice? Or, Seven willing, bringing him to justice yourself?" Warren gestured at the traitor's son, before folding his arms across his chest.
"Mayhaps I'm wrong. Who am I to say what you might prefer? It's just that, the way I see it, there are so many more possibilities for a man when his is neck intact."

"Wouldn't say I disagree, but I ain't going out of my way to impress anyone. I fought with Selwyn against the Others because it was the right thing to do. Now, there's the cult. When they are gone, we'll see. But I'm not running to her grace's tent and begging for favors for doing what any man ought to have." Talyn said crossing his arms, "Why do you care anyway. You talk about the Queen like you've got her ear. You some kind of little creeping whisperer or the like, I doubt you'll get as much as a silver stag for my story."

"If I were hurting for coin, there are far worse things I could be doing to you rather than have a conversation, Master Thatcher," Warren said flatly. "I might have crept a time or two in my life, I won't deny it, but I'm not some trick crow come flying back to keeper to squawk my wormy black brains out. I simply wanted to take a measure of you, partly as a commander, but more importantly as a man. Who were you? What was your disposition? Your motives? Trusts? Dislikes? I knew little about you before, and know more about you now than I did. If you want to think that I would come to you directly to dig up some dirt, you are more than welcome, but that's a thought I cannot corroborate."

"You'll forgive me if I say you don't have the look of a man who indulges curiosity for curiosity sake," Talyn replied.

"Then I am successful," Warren declared. "I find the less accurate others are in their perceptions, the further I come out ahead. Believe me or not, whichever you prefer."
