"I don't see you being forced to wed, but they may see it as a sacrifice to be made in order to hold together alliances. For that I pity them, 'love as thou wilt', my mother always said. And as you say, you can always take a marriage of political gain and then have a paramour. I have heard it is common in Westeros culture, despite all the talk of honour and so on."
"I will need to practice my singing lest I forget how to altogether, so far only Selwyn has had the "pleasure" of hearing my voice, though he did not express any emotion over it."

Ariel gave a chuckle. "Among the Andals, that's for men only, supposedly," she said with a shrug. "A man who lies with a common woman is doing as a man needs. A woman who does the same is wanton and soiled, without honor. Of course we women of Dorne would never hear of such a thing, and we of the dragon's blood..." She gave a soft giggle. "It was not unknown in ancient times for one to have two wives, or perhaps now, two husbands. Perhaps one of us will try something of the sort, though Rhaenys is not the type and the sisters are in less of a position to do so. I suppose that leaves me, though what combination of husbands, wives and paramours I will take remains to be seen." Another giggle.
"Selwyn," she said with a sigh. "It is admirable that he still lives and has not gone mad. I was there when he won his scars." She looked to Shahrizai. "I would hear you sing, if you were willing."

"Oh, I am certain you will have multiple suitors, some which may not be too happy with the other, and in the end both fight eachother to only one person's benefit." She smiled then sighs again, "I have never failed to stir emotion with my singing, though he showed no sign of it after I had finished, which disappointments me highly and in some way perhaps I failed. But I will not dwell on it too long, he has endured much."
She shifted around on her pillows and wiggled her toes, which looked to have a fresh coat of nail polish. "What would you like to hear?"

"Whatever you would like to sing, Shahrizai, so long as you exert your skill to the utmost in doing so." Her voice lowered a hair, and she glanced gently at the candles.

Shah stood up and hummed a little bit to get in tune and drank some wine to wet her mouth. She walked around the small part of the tent and sang of a woman who waited for her lover to return from a sea voyage. She snuffed some of the candles for a crepuscular feel. The song went on in soft sussurations as she wove the tale of the woman's despair. She would wait on the promontory by the harbour awaiting the sails of her husbands ship, and after years she built her home there, and would sing every night and every morning clear across the lake. At first she was full of love and hope, but that turned to despair and anger as the woman called to the sea to drown those who sailed into harbour, for if she could feel no happiness, then no one could.
Shah stopped and sank into her nest. "A sorrowful song, but I like it for it's emotional draw."

Ariel's face was solemn when Shahrizai ended, and she nodded. "Aye," she said. "That it is. Though sorrow in songs can bring the heart to rest when they end." Clearly, it had brought out emotion, though it showed in gravity rather than tears.

"You are welcome here whenever you wish, as I have said, I don't have very many friends to sing to, or even talk to for that matter. For once I don't have to pass secrets through my translator." She gave a wink through the dim light.

Ariel smiled at Shahrizai. "Indeed. And I'll be sure to invite you over to my tent to return the favor. It's seeming rather lonely when my guards have a couple of their own tents, you know?" She winked lightly, then stole an olive from Shah's bowl.

"My private stash!" She said with a laugh. "I don't have as many men under my control, so I wouldn't know exactly...My tent is big enough for my few guards and a guest if necessary."

Ariel winked, then sloowly placed the olive to her lips. It slipped between them, as they closed, and then she gulped visibly. "Mmm. Few things tastier than a good olive," she said.
"I am glad to have spoken with you tonight, and to have heard you sing." She rose to her feet, waved, and slowly sauntered out of the tent.

Shah smiled and waved her hand after her. She sighed as she stood and then laughed to herself on the way to her bed.

After the army has bypassed Queenscrown, Ser Maekar Blackfyre comes to see the lady Shahrizai. He came across the translator first.
"Tell your lady that I have come to seek out the fairest flower of Myr."

Rekhmire folded his arms, "You can well tell her yourself, and I bet it would sound better first hand than from me." He stepped aside and let Maekar pass through the curtain secluding part of the tent for the lady.
"Maekar?" Shah said from from her cushions. A small books lay open beside her and she closed it. "So you come again to see me."

"I did," he said. "I had a fancy to set eyes upon the fairest flower in Myr. You get more beautiful every time I see you."
His gaze passed slowly down her body like a visual caress then came up again to rest on her face.

"You flatter me Maekar, you come to worship my body? I let you maybe, if you good." He is not able to discern much of her body from the loose fitting clothes, but he is able to tell she is a woman for certain. "Does Queen know you have silk mouth?"
