"Yes. If he didn't have them beyond the Wall, he will have them now that we've rejoined these men at the Wall," Talyn replied.

"They must be hunted down and killed," Rask says. He stands silent for a moment, as if contemplating how best to accomplish this feat. Eventually, he says, "Your words are useful to me, Talyn Thatcher. Should you need a boon I would repay the favor."

"Our homes are dead, Talyn Thatcher. The life beyond the Wall has fled, and where there is no life there is no future." He looks at Talyn squarely. "I will find a new home for myself. I suspect the others will follow me. I would rather be done fighting, after all this. I will not kill your queen if I do not have to." He frowns. "There are some who appreciate her mother's sacrifice still."
