She put her hand on his shoulder.
"I can see that you are indeed worthy of the position, ser. YYou are clearly all that a knight of the Queensguard should be. You may rise. Tonigt you shall keep vigil in the sept and tomorrow say your vows before the knights I have already appointed, as well as myself."

"Thank you for your kind words, Your Grace. I will leave for the sept to stand vigil as soon as you grant me leave, my queen."

"Oh, I have no further need of you until you wear that white cloak, so you may go now, unless you have anything you wish to say?"

"I just want to thank you one last time for the honor you have bestowed upon me. I will not let you down, my queen"
Ser Mearn then bowed deeply before he excused himself and headed for the sept.

Selwyn walked up to her Chamber as asked and has a seat. Leaning back he focused on a spot on the wall and began to stare at it.

Rhaenys arrived after the discussion with Kyma was over. She favoured Selwyn with a smile. She sat opposite him and poured each of them a drink.
"That first council meeting went fairly well, I thought," she said. "Though my brother must learn to mind his tongue. Tell me, what do you make of my Small Council?"

Selwyn's gaze focused, and he turned to look at her."Besides Tarly I do not know any of them. And he I do not know well. I will reserve judgment until I see their work."

"As will I. I wished to see how they got on discussing a relatively small matter so I could learn more about them, before putting a great matter in their hands. You may trust Saenarys, who is my own brother, and I know my mother had faith in Imry who is a cousin of sorts. Tarly seems trustworthy also, though Marbrand dose worry me a little. Before we proceed to the military matters I've entrusted to you, will you tell me what you know of the dispute between Marbrand and Lannister. I have heard Lannister's view and I would hear yours."

"It was greatly confusing at the time. Many served Thatcher since he was hand, who have come to serve... you." Selwyn replied.

"Yes. I suppose they would. I am worried, though. I've promised Lannister I will investigate the situation when we've leisure to do so - if that day ever comes - but I know that in all fairness there must be two sides to the story. I'd holped you'd be able to enlighten me."
She sighed.
"Never mind if you can't. I know there's other things you will want to tell me."

Selwyn thought for a moment. "The situation was unclear when they entered my service. They both served in their own way, but I doubt they will ever like or respect one another." He paused to drink some wine.

"I'll clear it up, in time," Rhaenys vowed. "I cannot have uncertainty regarding my Master of Whispers. In the meantime, we've a war to win. What decisions have you made with regard to heading south?"

Selwyn nodded, "I have sent a large scouting force to Winterfell. If the way is clear some of them will press on to Moat Cailin. The Van is preparing to move south to Queenscrown. Thatcher is concerned about unfriendly eyes. His concerns are valid, but infiltration of any of our forces would be child's play at this time." He drank again, clearing his throat.

She was about to ask about the rest of the army but something stilled her.
"Thatcher?" She repeated. "You mentioned that name just now. Is he kin to the one who was Hand?"

Selwyn nodded, "You did not know?" He studied her face closely, measuring her reaction.
