"Very good. What can you tell me of the status of the men here at the wall? How many Night's Watch, how many other lords, and who are their commanders?"

"The Night's Watch has barely two hundred. Lords Rill and Locke command a thousand men each. And then almost four thousand men who answer to no one are crowding around Castle Black. There are another four thousand woman and children there as well. All waiting to hear this word." The First Ranger replied.

"Understood. I will ask Lords Rill and Locke to meet with me so I can discuss their situation. When Lord Commander Kijo returns you can discuss the Night Watch's situation with them. I'll also want to see to the situation with the leaderless men." Talyn says with finality.

From the top of the Wall, men there can see the black line snaking southward in the distance. Men with exceptional vision or a spyglass can see that at the front of the column fly the banners of Targaryen, Baratheon, Tarly, and Hightower, indicating the approach of the Army of Ever-Night. The army is still several hours away from the Wall, but moving inexorably closer.

Lord Tully and his small band of knights reach the Wall, the sight is as breathtaking as the first time he saw it. "There you are boys, the side of the Wall we never thought to see in our lifetime and here we are looking upon it for a second time." He marches his men through the tunnels and searches for a place to pitch there tents and start a warm fire.

Forty-some wildlings approach the Wall. Rask rides atop his great snow bear, and two shadowcats follow in his wake. The men and women around him keep their hands close to their swords. There is bad blood between the free folk and the rangers, and everyone knows it.
