Elane flushed under the intensity of his gaze. "I see the king has already started his administration. I'm heartened to hear that you are rebuilding the city and defending us, Your Grace. There is one more thing, however. We are soon going to be running short of medicines. I ask your leave to send to the Vale, Stormlands and the Reach, for each region has special herbs unique to them. I would also need at least ten guards to protect them from danger."

"Very well you shall have twenty. I'll send the order immediately. But first I have a question to ask you." He lead her a map of the Southern Kingdoms and pointed at the Vale. "What of the Vale? What's happening there right now? Are they taking the news that an Arryn is in charge again well? I had meant for Bethany to find out these things, but..." his voice trailed off, and he got a pained look on his face.

"Thank you, Your Grace," Elane said sincerely. She had not expected such kindness; in truth, she had not known quite what to expect. The Baratheon king was a stranger who had traveled to far lands with her sister, and fought battles with strange kingdoms. It felt surreal to now be standing before him. She flinched at the pained look on his face, and smiled politely to shake it off.
She came up to him and peered over the map. "I can tell you these things, Your Grace. As you know, the Vale has it's own Watch force, with stations all over, from Fingers to the Mountains of the Moon. My cousin Jon Royce has succeeded as the Vale Watch's second Lord Commander, and now guards the Eyrie until Lord Rhodri returns.
"We spread the proclamation of the resurgence of House Arryn as soon as we heard, Your Grace. I have not returned to Runestone itself, but in a raven I received from our maester, he assured me that every House of the Vale will soon know." She paused. "It has been - a surprise. Not everyone is quite happy with it. My own cousin, Lord Commander Jon Royce, was particularly..." she felt embarrassed. The hot-headed boy. "He has youthful ideas about things, but I persuaded him to come around. The Arryn bastards who run the Eyrie have also not been thrilled to know they will be replaced, but they do not have a choice in the matter."

Callen was glad Elane was able to distract him from thinking about Bethany. "Good, the blood of the Arryns runs no stronger in their blood than yours. And your cousin, Jon was his name? Wouldn't he be happy? It would mean he's Lord of Runestone now, when before he was considerably down the line in sucession."

Elane smiled, a slow, conspiratorial smile. "That, Your Grace, is why he eventually came around. It will mean that his brief stint at being Lord Commander is now over, but the Vale Watch has no vows like the Night's Watch, and Jon will be glad to get back to Runestone." She winked.

Ser Randal Lannister arrives, after speaking to the Lannister courier about his cousins death.
He is followed by four men in Lannister colors who appear to be bodygaurds or sworn swords.
He approches Callen and begins speaking, still somber from the news of Baldwins death.
"Your grace, i came here to speak on the behalf of the late Lord Baldwin, but i assure you i speak with Allards fullest approval."
Note: this takes place soon after Baldwins death. i just copied and pasted from tthe other thread.

Elane glanced around to see the Lannister messenger. She had heard rumors of Baldwin's death...but to hear it confirmed! It was somewhat disorienting. Baldwin Lannister could not die.
But then another thought came to her. Sara! For all she knew, Allard and Sara must have a good marriage. Perhaps that would sway the Lannisters...
She looked at the Lannister envoy, hiding her eagerness perfectly. Her face was a cool, disinterested mask, but her heart was beating hard.

Callen looked from Elane to Randal. "Lady Royce, I'm sorry but I would prefer to hear the Lannister envoy in private. I'll send for you later, perhaps we can have dinner together later tonight? Mabye Rhodri, Selwyn and Aranya could join us."

"Of course, Your Grace, I would be delighted. I will inform my kin as soon as I see them," Elane curtsied to him with a smile. "I must also thank you for your kindness." With that she left, nodding to Ser Randal. I hope the king tells us at dinner what the Lannister tells him now, she thought.

Callen motioned to a chair near the table. "Have a seat, may I offer you wine?" He pointed to the goblet. "And who does Allard send to treat with me? I don't believe we've ever met. Were you at the Battle of Casterly Rock?"

With a polite nod towards Lady Royce, Ser Randal moves forward.
"Why thank you, your grace, i am Ser Randal Lannister, cousin of the late Lord Baldwin." Randal says as he takes a glass, "I fought, yes, but only near the end, i had spent much time in the East and had only recently returned here."

OOC: The Battle as 6+ years ago or something, so I wouldn't really call the recent.
IC: "Really? What did you do there?"

ooc: i had recently returned then.
"I spent my time travelling the free cities, father was in charge of the family estate, and i needed to get out. When he died i came back and found the world twisted by conflict. I grew up with Lord Baldwin for a few years, before he left, and we knew each other fairly well." he says this all with a neutral expression on his face, watching the king for any reaction. "When i returned, i helped Baldwin with his war, and since then i have been in his loyal service."
Randal sips some-more wine.

Callen nodded, "I spent some time in the east as well. Mostly travelled, did a bit of fighting and bit of trading." He poured Randal more wine. "It's good that you have remained loyal to your liege lord. Better to be loyal to your king, but still few lords can boast such loyalty." He leaned back in his chair, "now then. You said that Baldwin was dead and Allard is the new lord of Casterly Rock. How did this happen?

"Of that your grace, i have no information. There are rumors of course, that Allard did the deed, i dont beleive them. I would never believe that he would be capable of doing such a thing, although the last time i met him was years ago."
"But", he says, "From what i gather, he was stabbed in the night, by assailints unknown."
"Also, your grace, i recently heard about ",he pauses, "Bethany, was it not, terrible news, truely terrible."edit: i guess i dont know they were lovers, i just think they were close
