On board is an older man with short gray hair and a few sailors to pilot the ship. They refuse the soldiers nothing and allow themselves to be boarded. They are not armed, save a sword at the man's hip which he places on the deck. "We are not Rodrick's soldiers! I represent a sympathetic lord from the mainland!"

The captain of the warship boards the tiny vessel and orders his men to check belowdecks for any hidden surprises. "What lord is that?" he asks the old man.

There is nothing but fish and fresh water beneath.
"I cannot give that information except to your lord! You're probably already infiltrated and I cannot risk my master's identity without being certain it does not jeopardize my mission." He gestures to the sailors. "These men are only fishermen I paid to deliver me here. They know nothing about me except that my lord pays well enough to risk their necks."

The captain narrows his eyes suspiciously. "Very well. Your fishermen will stay here. You will be brought to port on Lord Emmon's Revenge."

The old man is brought back to the island's port, then up to the castle itself. After a short wait he is brought to see Lord Barclay. Guards stand at attention in the room.
Lyreon Barclay's face looks tired and drawn and the lord looks older than his years. "I am told you represent a sympathetic lord," he says.

Maester Winston Frey bowed respectfully, keeping his head lowered throughout the statement. "I do. House Lannister may have knelt, but they have not forgotten Rodrick is their enemy. I am Ser Yoren Crownsfort and have come in the service of Lord Tyberion himself. He wishes me to inform you that though he leads troops against you, it is but a facade. We cannot save your sovereignty, but we can keep your family safe from the inevitable onslaught."

"Or sell them to the Lecher King to curry his favor," Barclay says. "What assurances do you have of your intent? I know better than to trust a Lannister's honor."

"If you cannot trust in our altruism, then trust in our vengefulness and slyness. In Lannisport, your family will live comfortably. With new names and new lives, they'll grow and prepare for the next strike at Rodrick. When it comes, your family will be aid us in the waning of Rodrick's influence from Driftmark and eventually the Crownlands. If they choose not to aid our future plans, then they can remain in luxury until they find their own means to reclaim power."

"I would not make promises you cannot keep," Lord Barclay says. "All know Lannisport is Lady Bettley's domain. Besides, my family has already fled. If you wish to help, inform me of Rodrick's plans."

"There is no strategy. He will send the finest naval commander in Westeros after you with far more men than you can muster and he will crush you. My lord cannot aid you in any way during the battle without revealing his own treason. Once they leave King's Landing, I suspect you will have already lost."

"So be it," Lyreon says, "If I must die to resist tyranny then it is a price I am willing to pay."
