Ondrew Burley and his young wife had gone to bed, and their guests the Harclays had done the same. the fire was naught but embers, when Nara awoke with a start and a scream.
"The Slavering jaws!" she cried, wrapping herself around her husband, interrupting him from drawing his dirk to protect against the unseen threat.

Both the Harlcay boys awoke startled by a scream. Scot headed for the door immidieatly, not bothering to put on any clothes, though he came back quickly, realising his mistake, and saw Hamish having his spear in hand.
As the two Harclay's understood that the scream had come from Nara, they relaxed.
"What happened, did she have a bad dream?" Hamish asked Ondrew and tried not to look at the half-naked Nara, clinging to her husband.

Ondrew nodded stoically, but it was Nara who spoke.
"I saw him, the old wolf with spittle dripping from his massive jaws. Missing tufts of fur for the scars of a hundred bite marks. Around him, hunger wolves and feral dogs gather. They will follow him in search of prey!"
"It was just a bad dream." Ondrew said, not sounding very convinced.
"It was a green dream. One of the true dreams." Nara replied, her thin form shaking in the night's cold.

Scot shrugged as if he did not know how to react, and went back to bed. Soon he slept loudly.
Hamish on the other hand, who as a child had dreamt of becoming clan guide, was not so eager to fall to sleep.
"What does it mean?" he said and this time he looked at Nara.

"A threat grows beyond the wall." Nara says, sounding sure of herself now. "It is growing larger still. The old wolf is its leader, who is an old foe."
"Someone should warn the black brothers." Ondrew said.
"Someone?" Nara said, giving him a henpecking look.
"Alright. I'll go. Perhaps I can meet up with Halgar and Robb on their way back."
"I'm coming with you." Nara said with conviction. "I may see more as we get closer."
"Fine." Ondrew said, he looked over at the Harclay.
"my wife some times dreams true, as the old greenseers used to. As the children of the forest taught them."

Hamish listened to Nara talk about her dream, and as they were finished, really without thinking about it he heard himself say.
"I will join you, too."
Scot gave a large snore, and turned in his sleep.
"Scot can go back to our clan, and speak with my father, maybe our guide has had the same dream as you, Nara."

Ondrew nodded.
"Very well. Tomorrow I will speak with my grandfather to explain, and than we can head north."

Hamish nodded back.
"I hope you get a good night's sleep now. It will be a long journey tomorrow. Good night."
Hamish laid down on the floor again, putting the fur over himself, but he didn't fall asleep for another two hours.
