If I die, the King will have no reason to punish the North, especially with my death letter.

This is Rodrick. He'll have no reason except you denied him the pleasure of dominating you himself.

He never wanted to. He's sending Yancey to kill me.

So what do you plan to do once you've faked your death?

What makes you think I'm planning that?
I have two options now. Sacrifice myself, by myself. Or I try to make a stand with 10000-15000 men.

I would negotiate while i have the 15,000 men.
Get yourself allowed to appoint your own regent, and no fostering for your children, in addition to sparing the North, in exchange for your surrender and execution. That's a pretty good deal.
As for the faking of the death, perhaps my spies have misinformed me.

Unless your spies are ghosts. I'm all alone here. If you have bugs poking around, you might want to get him out pretty quickly. I hear they don't like fire. In fact... I haven't shared my plans with anybody IC; so a flea must be hanging out inside my ear.
My wife will have been the one who 'released' my hostages, freeing the Lords of the North to switch back over to your side.
She'll speak with the King about regents, fostering etc.
