I would choose the position of Master of Arms. Though the position of Guardsmen is prestigous, you cannot marry. You would be close to the king, but not family.

I'll have Selwyn convey the message. Now, what of you? Is there a bride you have in mind?

I haven't really thought about it. I guess I look at my options for a little while and then decide.

Duncan Snow, Aemon Stark's attendant, turned to Lord Stark "Indeed I have found the Tyrells to be of the highest caliber, though I have yet to cross paths with Lord Tyrell, surely these are men we can trust and join ranks with and I would think it no folly to make this public."

Ser Rhodri Royce returns to the Market Square, stopping to purchase some ribbons and other trinkets from the old crone. He then returns to his inn, The Splendid Eagle, which overlooks the Square. He can be seen inside toasting with Selwyn Stone.

The Redspear goes upstairs to his room. When he emerges, what little gear he owns is with him; he and Selwyn set up a couple chairs on the edge of the square, in front of the inn, and polish arms and armaments while chatting privately.

Ser Steffen wanders into the market square. Noticing Rhodri, he wanders up to him. "Well met. Care for a drink before the fight?"

Fight? What fight? Do you mean the tourney? I intend to keep a quiet vigil.

"Are you going to now? Usually best to get accustomed to the action in smaller tourneys than this."

"Your choice." Steffen unearthed a bottle of arbor red, and took a long draught. "Ive never fought in a tourney." "Tell me, Ser Steffen, do you know perchance a man called Nealon Spear? He came to me claiming to be a part of the Lannister retinue. He then proceeded to offer me his services as a squire. I tell you this since if he is a Lannister man by oath, it would seem his loyalty has gone wayward if he is looking for a new knight to serve. Of course, it's possible he is not in your service at all; if so, beware that a man is making claim to use your name." "When I declined his services, he walked away mumbling idle threats. In any case, I felt it best to let you know of his activities before he brought ill repute to your noble family." "Let it be assured this event has not caused any ill will betwixt my family and yours. The men of the Vale have only the utmost respect for the men of the Westerlands." "If, as this man claimed, his offer was in fact on behalf of your family, please, take no slight in my assumption. Rather, I can think of better, more fitting ways to bring together our two great houses. I can only hope our two families grow closer" "Best of luck to you on the morrow in the melee; I shall be joining the joust. I shall look for you and pray for your good fortune." With that, Ser Rhodri Royce and Ser Selwyn Stone gather their belongings, mount horse, and depart from the Market Square.

Steffen smiled glibly, and spoke to himself. "Nealon has been loyal to our house for 20 years. He has only ever acted for the betterment of our house, and i would assume he was doing so here. Perhaps he thought you are a danger to us, and wanted to stay close to you, or perhaps he thought the opposite, and felt that your life was vital to the lannisters, and vowed to protect you. Who can say. I suspect that was an error o captain of the guard."

"Bruises only, Ser. But I fear for my coz...I hear his leg splintered. I go to his care."
"Best of luck to you in the melee. It is ... a dangerous sort of game."
