Joshua started out of his reverie as Ser Rogyr spoke to him. "Just nervous about the battle I suppose Ser. It'll be my first and I'm just hoping I don't disgrace myself or my family" he forced a weak smile. "Lord Tarly's girls are comely enough to help me forget my troubles though" he chuckled

Rogyr nodded and clanked his flagon with Joshua's.
"Don't worry lad. It ain't ever so bad as you think it is. My advice to you, is before the battle starts take a right long piss. Move your bowls too. Cause once the horns sound, you'll wish you did. Other than that, Keep your head up, don't ever take your fucking helm off, and keep on swinging."

"Most mandermen won't put up much of a fight, I've found," chimed in Ser Samuel, as he was walkig by the two knights on his way to the privvy. "He's right about the piss before to battle, though. It's bloody hard to hold that in, and concentrate on fighting and guiding a horse at the same time."

Joshua smiled at the man's words. "That's something the master of arms at our keep never warned me about. I'll be sure to do just that Ser Rogyr. Do you think they'll be able to parlay and avoid the fight?" he asked hopefully, inclining his head towards the main table "Most mandermen won't put up much of a fight, I've found," chimed in Ser Samuel, as he was walkig by the two knights on his way to the privvy. "He's right about the piss before to battle, though. It's bloody hard to hold that in, and concentrate on fighting and guiding a horse at the same time." "I hope you're right about the mandermen, Ser. Though I was never able to defeat Jon Leygood on the training yard when I squired for him" his smile faded. "Our lands are pretty close to the border and my father always advised knowing your neighbours in case it ever came to this. I think he hoped it never would though"

"We all did son. We were hopeful when Lord Craych said he was going to do the right thing and join us for justice," Rogyr seemed to pronounce it Hust-ticce.
"But than he turned cloak on us. They've been sore on us a long time lad. Jealous as much as anything I suppose." he shrugged.

Joshua nodded glumly "My father used to speak often of the sullied rose of Highgarden. It's what he called Lord Tallahar Tyrell" he said when he saw the confused look on Rogyr's face. "He oft thought that his duplictious ways was what set the fracture of the Reach on it's course, though others said it was inevitable"

"The Thrice Traitor? Aye. Tallahar knew what it was to betray, that's for sure. But I think even he'd be disappointed by this poor bouquet." Rogyr smiled broadly, showing a few missing teeth.

"Bouquet?" the young man looked blankly at the knight. "You mean his kin?"

"Yes, even more faded flowers that lot." Rogyr said, wetting his throat with a bit of wine. "What can you do eh? We'll make it through all right, we always have."

As the party winds down, Loren finds himself alone near a window over looking the defensive field below. The campfires from the army and the group of religious peasants look like fire flys in the distance.

"It's kind of beautiful, if you look at it properly," Ser Samuel said, coming upon his childhood friend staring out a window. "Hey, do you remember that time we tried to see if a flying squirrel could fly to the ground from this window?" he asked with a grin.

Loren laughed, "I thought the poor creature didn't have a chance but somehow he managed to glide his way to freedom," he shook his head in disbelief as he remembered the encounter.

"And we too will glide our way to freedom, although perhaps not as easily as that squirrel." Cyrus says, as he puts his arms around Samuel and Loren.

"No we will have to claw our way there inch by bloody inch," Loren said again gazing out onto the field where the Battle will be fought.

"I was nearly as surprised as you were, I thought the bugger was about to land on my father's head and then we really would have caught hell," he said still laughing. He sobered slightly, and looked out the window again, which faced southwest. "The Dornish are stirring, Loren. I'd hoped they would just sit this war out like the snakes that they are, but they're bringing men to the Passes. If they overwhelm Dondarrion's meagre forces, we'll be completely surrounded by enemies, which is not something I relish."
He stopped speaking, and realized that a frown had stretched across his face. "Nevermind that though," he added. "This is a feast, we're supposed to have fun and then think morbidly about war, while we nurse our hangovers. On that note, I bet you ten dragons I can drink you and Cyrus under the table," he said with a wink.
