"I would not propose sending men to Blackhaven; that is Dondarrion's to protect. Nightsong, however, is about the same distance from Horn Hill as Highgarden is, that is to say, not particularly far, so it would not be a long march should we need to send men there in an emergency."

Justin seemed to think for a moment. "Ser Samuel, I am displeased with your efforts to speak with Lord Dondarrion. The Far Reach must speak with one voice, or we will shatter. Lord Dondarrion's abandonment of Nightsong leaves our Eastern Flank open to Dornish incursion. We'll face a joint Dornish-Loyalist Stormlord force now most likely, in addition to the Mander to the Northwest. I can only pray that he did not abandon his post at your encouragement, or you have likely sunk us all."
Justin seemed to think.
"Take 2,500 men, and march to Nightsong. You will hold that castle against all enemies even if it means your life. You will hold our flank Ser Samuel, do you understand me?"

"Yes, my lord, I will leave at once," Samuel said, his face still bright red under his beard. He bowed to the assembled lords, and then turned on his heel and marched out of the War Room to make preparations.

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// The war leaders of the Far Reach were again convened in Lord Tarly's solar, after the failed parlay with Craych Tyrell. Samuel had just arrived back from Nightsong to see the exchange between Tyrell and Lord Justin from a distance, but he knew that no ground had been covered. "Father, do you think we shall still have to fight them?" Samuel asked. "We all saw the turncloak flower ambush King Rodrick's dog, but I wonder if his men will remain loyal to him when they see how his allegiances blow with the wind."

Lord Tarly shrugged, "It is in the Smith's hands now. If he wishes to bind the Mander together around their lord and his desires, than it will be done, if not... than Lord Craych may be the first casualty of the battle of Horn Hill. We were prepared to defeat them, so we will defeat them if we must."
