7) Character Personal History: Lord Qhored Harlaw was born the first son of Dagon Harlaw, the first Harlaw to crown himself King of the Iron Islands since the old days of the kingsmoots. When his father was murdered, he and his brother were only infants, and they were carried away to Hammerhorn, the keep of their grandfather Lord Joramun Goodbrother, to be kept safe. When the pretender king Erik Coldiron was defeated and killed, Qhored Harlaw was returned to Pyke, so that he could be seen to be holding on to his claim.

As Dagon Harlaw's sons were too young to rule the Islands, Joramun was chosen as it's overlord by the crown. Joramun travelled to Pyke, to rule from there and raise his grandsons to be able and fit warriors. Balon Harlaw was also raised in Pyke, and soon Wulf Pyke was to arrive there too. Qhored, Balon and Wulf became extremely close, and Qhored began too view Wulf as a brother more than as his uncle.

When Joramun died and his son Tigon ascended to leadership, Lord Janos Satlcliffe rebelled against the Goodbrothers. Qhored sided with Joramun's and led the forces which defeated Saltcliffe and Lord Frenken Volmark the Kinslayer.

After that, with most adult Goodbrothers dead, Lord Qhored claimed lordship of the Iron Islands by right of strength, and married the daughter of Tigon Goodbrother to cement his rule.

7) Character Persona History: Wulf Pyke, the bastard child of Lord Felryn Harlaw and Lady Aranya Royce, grew up trying to reconcile the conflicting influences of his mother's kin and father's kin. At age six he left Duskendale, where he had been raised since he mother died by his brother and sister, Brynden and Selyse Royce. He was shipped to the land of his father, the harsh and unforgiving Iron Islands.

Wulf's first reaction to the Islands was not positive. Feeling abandoned and alone, his only companion was the half wolf-half direwolf pup that had been given to him before he left Dukendale. The boy was not able to understand why he had been sent to the Islands. He was raised by his aunt, Besha Harlaw, a large fierce woman who had been married to a Tyrell. Besha had lost all the family she had started in the Reach, and had returned to the Islands to spend her last years alone. She found a new cause in Wulf, and began helping him become a true Ironborn.

Having spent his early years as a 'greenlander' Wulf was not immediately accepted by the children his age. Wulf was forced to prove himself to be as tough and strong and brave as they were, even as a young boy. He was soon after accepted by his nephews, Qhored and Balon Harlaw, who were of an age of him. But Wulf never took to either the Drowned God of hs father or the nameless Northern gods of his mother. Instead he chose the Seven of the greenlands, that his brother Brynden followed.

He was squired to Ser Yoren Botley, another one of the rare followers of the Seven on the Islands. Ser Yoren was a skilled captain and fighter, and taught Wulf much. He also taught Wulf how the vows of knighthood were not incompatible with the way of the Ironborn. Wulf Pyke would swear to protect the weak and the helpless, but a man grown who was able to defend himself was a different matter.

Ser Yoren took Wulf with him when he went pirating in the Narrow Sea. In their travels they did not hesitate to take any trading vessels and gained a reputation as ccomplishd pirates. But they did not reave, and women and children, and men who did not resist, went unharmed when they were captured.

During the several years that he sailed the seas with Ser Yoren, he had several opportunities to return to Duskendale and King's Landing, and he remained close with his mother's family throughout his life, cementing the dual nature of his life.

When he finally returned to the Iron Islands as a newly made knight, civil war was brewing on the Islands. King Rodrick's pro-Braavosi nature had been provoking outrage in some parts of the Islands, and this outrage became directed at Lord Goodbrother who supported the king. When Lord Joramun died and was replaced by his son, Tigon, Lord Saltcliffe rebelled. Wulf's nephews sided with Joramun's sons, who were their kin through their mother. Wulf fought with Qhored, and helped to defeat Saltcliffe and Volmark's rebellion. He himself slew the eldery legendary general Volmark the Kinslayer in single combat.

After that Qhored assumed the leadership of the Iron Islands, and Wulf took his ship and went back east, to resume pirating, this time as capain of his own ship, though he returns often to the places of his father's and mother's families.

He served on Ser Yoren Botley's ship along with Wulf Pyke until he was granted command of his own ship by his father. Now he sails with Wulf when they take to the Narrow Sea to pirate and reave.
