"I would never force my sister to marriage that is why I put myself forth. I would marry someone of your House. But I would hope it would be you Alys."

That stunned her. She hadn't thought to marry any man, having rejected every suitor she'd ever had.
"You want to marry me?" She asked needing to clarify the situation. "But...wny? I'm not the kind of wife men dream of."

Bealor shrugged but he disagreed with Alys last statement, "I believe you would be an excellent wife."

"Really?"
She felt flattered in spite of herself and her declaration that she was immune to all kinds of flattery.
"But how is that so? I mean, I spend most of my time in the training yard and I dress in mail and leather more than silks and velvets."

Alys winced at the reminders of the woman's life she'd thought ot leave behind. She didn't know what to think.

She smiled warmly at him.
"That is good to know. You're charming, Bealor, and I consider you a friend. I am inclined to say yes, though I must tell you now that I had never thought I would wed, especially to a man younger than me. You don't mind that I'm a few years older, do you?"

Bealor's hormones called for him to yell something else but instead he shrugged, "It is for the good of my House."

"And for your own good, I hope," Alys commented, still smiling at him. "A marriage made for duty alone would be...unfortunate. I will give you my hand in marriage so long as you will swear to me that you want me for myself as well as well as for my name."

Bealor for the first time since Alys had entered the room he looked her directly in the eye, "It would please me greatly for you to be my wife."

"Then I accept," she told him. "Shall we drink a toast to the future?"

Bealor smiled, "I could think of a few other things then a drink."

"What things?" Alys asked, though she had a feeling she knew.
