"Oh!" said Pate with a start "I was just giving Sprite here a chance to stretch out her wings." With that he set the falcon off up in to the air.

"I might just do that, Ser Barry is a difficult man, how could a man enjoy brutalizing another man like that." said Pate shaking his head.

In the courtyard below, Septon Giles clapped his hands loudly saying, "Good show, Ser Barry! I swear you remind me of the Warrior himself on days like these" he grins

"I hear the lord is hosting a tourney soon, that should be a site to see." Said Pate with a smile. "Well it'll be only small one like the ones my Pa talked about seeing in the Reach, said he even saw the Dawnraider joust against the Lord Irwyn but no one believed that."

"I take it young Barry is putting on one of his displays again," he said through teeth gritted against the cold.

"Yes, Ser Barry is creating more work for you I'm afraid. Someone had better tell him to go easy on his own men and save some of those broken bones and cuts for others" he chuckled softly

The maester grimaced.
"Some of my learned peers might be of the impression that Ser Barry is attempting to compensate for something through his actions." He smiled weakly, the creases in his face morphing into deep chasms and rills. He stood still a moment longer, mouth slightly open, gulping in the cold air like a fish.
"You have already guessed what I shall be spending my afternoon doing Septon, might I ask what you might be up to?" He did not look at the other man, his aging eyes simply staring off into the distance.

He did not look at the other man, his aging eyes simply staring off into the distance. Giles smiled slightly "Those learned friends of yours had better not say that within earshot of Ser Barry unless they would like to receive your ministrations like unfortunate Hendrick there" he gestured to the beaten man "As for my plans today, I will of course be holding service this evening and will be making my preparations for that..." his voice trailled off as he watched Ser Barry taunt his opponent. A slight frown creased his head as he stood for a few moments, but the dangerous note in Barry's voice galvanised him and he strode forward swiftly, snatching up the wineskin from the ground and tossing it onto the chest of Hendrick. Turning to Barry he smiled broadly and said, "It seems Henrick is no better at catching wineskins than he is at evading your strikes milord" he laughed loudly "I think we shall have to add it to his training" he helped the man to his feet

Giles bowed to Ser Barry and dragged Hendrick away from his wrath. Once out of earshot he muttered to the man "I pray that you're a dexterous man, Hendrick. I didn't risk my neck for you, just to delay the punishment further. Come now, I think we can raid the poor box for the fool's rags for you. And then I'll work with you this afternoon to try and see if I can prepare you for this evening. I doubt it'll be pleasant, but it'll be better than the alternative" he said grimly, glancing back at the young lord's son.

Pate stood silently watching the son of the lord Lynderly, Perhaps it is time to move on, I wonder if Ser Belgrave is looking for another knight. Thought Pate.
