Flea smiled, "Well, I mean it." He said quietly, nestling against her, unable to further express his thoughts.
Scav jerked his head towards the door, "After you missus Alys," he said, following behind at a respectful distance (and stealing a not so respectful glance at the maids rear end).

Flea sighed, "What are you thinking about darling?" He asked, more in a desire to hear the soft notes of her voice, than out of nosiness.
Scav shrugged, and strode beside her. "One day you'll be an old maid, and than you'll be sorry no one's ogling your ass no more."

Flea smiled and kissed her breast before laying his head upon it again. "Yes, we are lucky." He said quietly.
"You think it won't happen, but it will. Time catches up with all of us. " Scav said, "better to enjoy being young and pretty while the opportunity is there. Course I was never pretty, but I was young."

Flea sighed, feeling Dacey's unease in her body, and that in turn making his senses, so attuned to her, also on edge.
"What's wrong..." he pleaded quietly.
"I'm 16, and than 16 again." Scav replied, as they approached a small thatched hut.
"Come out Mother Rynia." He cried. and soon enough a gnarled old woman appeared. "Ah Scav, is the young master at home then? Good, he stays away too long. What is it you'll be needing?"

The woman grunted, "The little master's found himself a woman aye? That's too precious. Come in dear and take a look at what we have."
What she has, is lettuce, potatoes, rutabagas, squash, and carrots, mostly. But she seems to be well stocked, and her own girth indicates that the people of Shallowgrave seem to eat alright.
Flea's lips pursed as he looked up at her. "Woman's worries are just as vital as men's worries. You should trust your instincts, so tell me what's wrong."

Flea nodded. "Its not the gods that I'm worried about. Our fellow men are bad enough. Anyway, we are what we are, and we have what we have, and we'll do what we can to keep it. There's not much else you can do."
Scav remained quite as the women talked vegetables.
"The farms here are fertile, on account of the stream." he added helpfully.

Flea shrugged, "What do you want to know? Lord Varner liked Lord Blackwood, better than Lord Bettley, who he didn't trust. Ironic that is, I suppose when its all said and done. And it was Lord Varner, with my help, who found out that Lord Horas had not tried to kill Bettley, but the Usurper Andry. Did you know that?"
Scav shook his head, "Nay. That's to the northwest, the Honeywyne, it feeds into the Whispering sound at Oldtown, which is also Northwest of us. To the southwest is Three Towers, of the Costaynes, and directly south is Sun House, where the star fell a few years ago." Scav said. Although not a smart man, the sellsword' knowledge of the area was good, since he'd traveled across the continent in service."

Flea nodded, "And together Lord Blackwood and Lord Varner tried to kill the Sealord, who was behind Andry, only it didn't work. That was Lord Varner told me, I wasn't there so, I don't know what happened, only that it didn't work."
Scav shrugged, "I've traveled a lot. Been a freerider and sellsword since I was 14, you see alot of places."

Flea nodded, "Yes. He's with the Tristeza Martell, that turncloak whore." The boy's body tenses from anger. "And its usually better to slit one throat, than have thousands have to suffer because of one trouble-maker. Doesn't mean you have to like it, but its true."
Scav shrugged, "It's not so exciting as all that. Mostly five parts boredom, to one part terror."

Flea nodded, and closed his eyes, letting Dacey's fingers run the tension out of him.
"I don't know how Lord Varner kept it all... in check." He said, sighing.
Scav laughed, "Actually you're supposed to be worrying about where our meals are gonna come from right now. Grab something and let's move along, we still gotta see the butcher as well."

"Of course it is. Lady Martell is a poisoner and assassin, and the Sealord swore vengeance against Lord Varner. The money he spent to make Andry the regent was beyond count. He can not have taken it well that he was defeated in his effort. With the Martell woman, he has another catspaw to play with us here, like Andry was. Plus the dragon Prince, and Horas too. They all reside in Braavos, surely not by accident."
Scav led Alys to the butcher, was waved to them as he was slaughtering a hog.
"Hail there Martan."
"Hail Scav, come for yer supper as like as not."

Flea shook his head. "You told me yourself of the so-called Blorus Hackwood, and others have reported it as well. Horas lives, for the time being anyway. But its nothing to trouble yourself about." He slide up her body to kiss her gently on the nose.
"It's yours if you want it." the man said, chopping off the hog's head with finality, and putting it aside. "I'll keep the feet, head and tail, less you be needing it."

"Are you cold darling, Perhaps I should go north next, and get you some furs instead of silks." Flea grinned and nuzzled against her.
The butcher grunted acceptance, and set to chopping.
Scav chuckled quietly to himself, but stopped when Alys stared at him, trying to look innocent.

Flea grinned and kissed her. "It's a fine season, to curl up in bed under some furs with a pretty girl." he said, "And anyway, it doesn't get so bad here in the Reach. We can winter here whenever we want."
Scav looked at Alys with a "what who me." Finally the butcher finished, and wrapped the pork for carrying.
The butcher smiled at Alys expectantly.

Scav turned on his heel and led Alys out of the butcher shop.
"Your a silly woman, paying for something we already own. But you'll be that butcher's best friend forever I reckon."
Flea snuggled against her warm body, and kissed her cheek in response. "Yes, there's a lot about life here that's not as bitter as the Landing."
