We should probably begin to discuss what developments we want for our house (more castles, a new market place, ect...).
I would reccomend building up our economy before worrying about the size of our army.
Any thoughts?

I admit I don't really understand how that element of gameplay works. Since you are our defacto Lord (since Alyn is an NPC), I'll certainly yield to whatever gameplan you favor.

We're safe behind our mountains. But we need to bolster everything else I think.

Rhodri, it ties into the economy and how much power you hold in what is possible (in scenarios). Those who hold more power and or are wealthier can there-by get by with more.

Jon, I agree. I highly doubt the remote Vale will be attacked, so let us build up the amount of money we have and worry about increasing our army later. Are we all of a like mind?

I could see building up some fortifications around the edges of the Vale but certainly don't see an attacking army. We remember, we intrigue, but we don't go out and bash other people unless there is *a lot* of money under the mattress In line with my earlier post about marrying Breyne off, we should think about dynastic marriages a la Hapsburgs...much better to marry than fight!

Oh, meant to add...the only way the Aerie is vulnerable is by dragon attack. Would be great to have a dragon of our own but I almost don't want to bring up the subject in a scenario in case somebody else gets the bright idea and tries to attack us How about we keep an eye out for any mention of dragons, eggs of stone, obsidian candles or any of the other accoutrements of the beasts and immediately set plans into action if we see something happening.

Oh, and I like the idea of a wee expansion of the marketplace...can connect into the work I'm already doing in KL in the market here (today ribbons, tomorrow the world. MWWAAAHHHAAAHHHAAA).

I agree totally, we're better building up economy before we post all our army. This sounds good to me.

Ooh, fun, we can connect this with the marketplace development I've been doing--look for the scenarios in the library on the Market Place, the Smiths, and the Cellar of the Merry Maid, as well as the Market Place thread. I wrote the ones with Arguel Flowers and the development of the Black Shields. Officially I consider Lilith to be both the old ribbon crone (note her skills with potions, needlework aka stitching, and languages) and the stranger who gives people money. You might have one of your alts consider joining the ribbon crone's crew--I think I'm going to marry the fabric lady off to the knight and having the ribbon crone buy her out.
One thing I am planning is an expansion of the Black Shields. They will be pitched purely as a guard force, not an army, whose purpose is to protect merchantile interests. I think they can also be used to protect the little people from marauders like Jon, thus winning the hearts and minds of the people. This expansion would be easy to join with your ideas about cutting trading routes. The only thing I'd advise it that the work gets done in anonymous forums, as scenarios, events and rumors to avoid public recognition of the influences the Royces have on trade.
(One thing I have done with the marketplace scenarios is to set up two figurehead leaders, one a Flowers aka a Tyrell bastard, one a blond hedge knight that we can identify with the Lannisters & Targs, so we can have the Flowers brothers treat with the Roses & the Wolves, and the blond boy with the Lions & the Dragons).

ps: I have officially been invited to be the king's translator (I blame you for this Rhoddie ;D) so will be inviting various people to KL to help. Do people have alts they specifically want either on the translation staff (which will be heavily weighted towards smart beautiful women) or the support staff (anyone).

Casterly Rock threads have given the Lannisters a place to chat in public...should we set up a Runestone folder? That might give us a place to develop our business interests from. ;D

Have her set out now, she should get there in plenty of time.
Oh good, a Runestone folder! I think we should have at least a keep thread and a raven's thread so we can communicate with each other.

Yeah, a Runestone board would be good, help us to stay in touch a bit more whilst we're away. And show people of course we're not potting anything. Would we? ;D
