Brandon found himself yet again writing letters. There was need to expand the whisperer network in Braavos, due to the dragon prince that had made it his lair and at the Iron Isles because of the King’s brother. He had Patrek to report from the Iron Isles, though he would not always be there so he’d need to find some replacement when Patrek went to another place. Reret would have to gather some more whisperers in Braavos and so would the courtesan’s servants find others among the servants of the nobility. One of the courtesans would probably need to go to the Targaryen’s court too, if there wasn’t already one there. He coded his letters before he sent them, the last letter he had given Patrek before he had to go to Godsgrace detailed how the code would be. Patrek promptly burnt the letter after memorising. A captain on one of Reret’s ships had also been given the same letter with the same instructions.
-----------------------
Reret walked the streets of Braavos and found talked to the street urchin and the orphans, he would provide food and shelter for them if they told him of the interesting things they saw and heard. He also talked to the many street peddlers. The captains of his ships would do the same in every port they visited, which got him an even better reputation which again caused him to get more trading connections. Ever since this business with Brandon things seemed to have gotten a whole lot better.
--------------------
Patrek visited the harbour on his time off, in a completely different outfit, it looked like what he was wearing in Norvos all those years ago. He observed the sailors, captains, shipbuilders and iron born merchants. He approached the shadier of them and offered them a deal that was hard to resist. He didn’t like being in the game of shadows, but he supposed someone had to report to Brandon if something should happen to the Prince and he was unable to do it. A ship from Norvos had just anchored at the port and so he spoke Westerosi with a Norvoshi accent. Gods he hated the shadow game, there was a reason why he was a knight after all, it was much safer.
------------------------
Brandon looked out at the river and the landscape of Dorne from a tower at Godsgrace. The sun was sweltering and he could understand that several thousand men had died from sunburn and dehydration. Lady Demezla had asked him why he didn’t avoid the sun and why he didn’t get a sunburn, he had only winked and said it was a secret. That had gotten him another set of scratch marks on his back and a bite on his shoulder, by R’hllor she was a fierce one! The truth was that ever since the time spent with the Clan’s Men in the Vale, he had never felt heat or cold, well he knew what he was supposed to feel but it was like it had gotten pushed aside and no longer affected him. Still he had gotten a stronger dislike for cold and a much better regard for the sun.
As such he stood upon the tower bare chested and soaked up the warm rays from the sun. He wondered how a bird or a dragon would feel like being that much closer to the sun. He closed his eyes and breathed out slowly, a warmth seemed to spread inside of him and he felt refreshened no matter how hard Lady Uller had worked him the previous night. Sounds unheard before was now heard, the buzzing of a fly for a much farther distance than he could have heard previously, the crickets, the flapping of a birds wings and the conversation of a couple in the garden. Brandon opened his eyes and the sounds were gone, a smile could be seen on his lips and no doubt last until he met Lady Uller again. Him not telling her what he smiled about would probably give him more scratches, which brought a larger smile to his face.
Result:
Brandon increase to master espionage
Brandon increase to master mysteries of fire and sound
Reret increase to novice espionage
Patrek increase to beginner disguise.
whisperer network in Braavos and the Free Cities expand, whisperer network acquired in the Iron Isles.
