"Ser Ethan, and my grandmother called me Smallwick, so I go by Ser Ethan Smallwick," Ser Ethan grinned. "So you really have encountered those horselord savages from the east? What are they like? Is it true that they drink stallion's blood and mate with mares?"

Harwin laughed. "Aye, I've battled them. They are amazing archers and even better riders but on the walled cities on the East they smash their Khalasaars to bits. As for the stallion blood I know that often times pregnant mothers will eat a raw horse heart to give her child strength. I've never seen one mate with a mare though I must admit it would be a sight." "So Ser Smallwick which contests have you entered?"

"I wish my mother had eaten a raw horse heart when I was in her belly, and might be I'd not be Smallwick but the Greatwick."
"I'm entering the joust," Ser Ethan said. "And the melee. You, ser?"

Harwin laughed at the jest. "I fear the I never learned to properly joust so I have to settle on just the melee for now."

"A knight who doesn't joust?" Ser Ethan lifted a brow. "Why, jousting is the finest thing. We shall have to practice on that, ser. How long were you in the east?"

Harwin scowled briefly at the comment. "I was there for ten years. Three of those leading a mercenary company employed in the defense of the Free Cities against the Dothraki. Jousting isn't exactly popular there."

Master Galwyn looked at them and sniffed. Normally he would disdain to allow such savages to participate, but unfortunately he was employed by that wildling bitch, Lady Royce, who was half savage herself. For all Galwyn knew, Lady Royce would admit these creatures for the sake of camaraderie, and also to tweak the noses off all the offended lordlings. "What do you wish to compete in?" he asked, in a slow, clear voice. He was nervous as well. The wild man was huge and fierce. "Tournament," Mag said, remembering the word. "I wish to fight with my stone axe," he said, holding it up. "And that man," he said, motioning to Cudge, "wishes to shoot arrows."

Aranya did indeed notice the resemblance between Ser Grant and Lord Sylas Caron of Nightsong. But she merely smiled at his question. "I was travelling in the east with my children for some years, on a job that I had. When I completed it, I returned. It was good to go abroad again - until I sailed from Duskendale, I had not left Westeros since my exile long ago." "I will admit, I have never left the continent, though the East sounds exciting. Perhaps Alya and I might travel one day, but certainly not until the baby is born." He took Alyana's hand in his own. Two and a half months pregnant, her belly was beginning to show under her garments, but the child was not yet large enough to impede her riding.

Lord Robert Tarly and his wife, Lysette, approach the Lady Royce and Ser Grant. Robb recognized the lady from the Grand Council, but he only met Ser Grant briefly, once in King's Landing and once at the end of the Dornish War. Nevertheless, he felt a strong bond with the man, as only fellow soldiers can. "Good day, Lady Royce and Lady Swann," Robb said, bowing to Aranya and Ser Grant's wife. He had never met the second woman, but had heard of the marriage between the stormland knight and her. "And it is nice to meet you once again, Ser Grant." Turning, he motioned to Lysette. "This is my wife, the Lady Lysette of House Vaith."

"The lance is the deadliest weapon in mounted combat," Ser Ethan said. "But I have heard those curved Dothraki swords do some fair damage too. Can you wield one? What are those called, those funny curved foreign swords?"
Alyana blushed and smiled, laying her hand on the gentle swell of her belly.
"Well, that is happy news," Aranya said with a smile. "Children are a terror, I warn you. My boy is wild as a colt and my daughter is turning out just as headstrong. You will never have any rest."
Alyana laughed. "I fear you are right, my lady. My grandmother he said the same about my father when he was born."
Aranya greeted Robb Tarly with a smile, thinking with amusement that she should really introduce Aerie to him. "I am glad you could join us," she told him. "I have heard you have shown great skill at arms in the war."
Aranya eyed the dark Dornish beauty with interest, noting the girl's observant eyes. They greeted each other courteously.

Lady Aranya moved among the other participants, curious about their fighting skills. When she saw the ironborn tents go up, she raised her eyebrows and walked over. She had heard of their recent bloody reavings at Ghaston Grey. A man who seems to have no part of him that is not badly burnt approaches Aranya, and motions for her to follow him into the large tent at the center of the Ironborn camp.

Aranya swept her eyes over him and strode along, following him into the ironborn camp with a smile. "Did you sail up from Ghaston Grey?"

The man opened his mouth to reveal he had no tongue, then showed her into the pavilion of Lord Harlaw.
Felryn is sitting drinking with other Ironborn when Aranya walks in. He looks up at her, "ah, Lady Royce, one of my men saw you around our camp so I sent Burned Urzen to escort you, I hope you enoyed his company."
Felryn dismissed the other Ironborn, and as they filed out he took in Aranya's curves with a hungry eye.

"He would make a good listener, and useful to keep his lord's secrets," Aranya said. She did not appear to notice his roving eyes and said, "I was just asking him if you'd come from Ghaston Grey."

"Would that I had any secrets to keep," he said with a half-grin, "but I am a man of naked honesty."
"Ghaston Grey was taken by Coldiron and the late Greyjoy brothers, I don't know what they hoped to find in that prison but I hear their only prize was the death of many men."
