Brandon disguised as a Braavosi merchant talked to the other merchants of Godsgrace. He made his westerosi thick with a Braavosi accent, which pleased the merchants as they had heard that Braavos took in refugees from Dorne. They talked about lots of things, how they felt about the war, what their opinion was of Irwyn and the rest of the lords partaking in the war. Soon enough guards of the lords currently in Godsgrace to swear fealty got involved in the conversations. Lots of things cleared up for Brandon then, most of all how horrible the war had been. He remembered Petyr the mummer’s guild master’s words, he got a sad look on his face then which made the Dornish men like him even more. He asked if the merchants if they could give him news from Dorne on letter, and they agreed to send letters to the Braavosi mummers in King’s Landing understanding the need for a bit of secrecy as ships would likely be searched by soldiers. The guards were eager to make some coin by the side as the tragedies that had befallen Dorne had impoverished them. A sympathetic face and a shoulder to lean on did wonders for the widows and maidens who had lost their husbands and fathers. He felt slightly awful by taking advantage of the war but such were the realities of life. He also made it clear that he would have entertainers from Braavos to come to bring some much needed spirit back in the Dornish men.
Walking in the streets of Godsgrace, Brandon found himself talking to the street urchin and the orphans from the war, he, or rather his merchant contacts in Godsgrace, who would be provided monies for such, would provide food for them if they told him of the interesting things they saw and heard. He talked to the few street peddlers, gave a helping hand to the builders, played the harp in the funerals and the few weddings that occurred earning gratitude among the small, the not so small and the more nobler ones. In the end he was satisfied with the connections he had made and went to his cousin Roland.
Result:
Brandon increase espionage towards master
Brandon learns about the Dornish feelings for Lord Irwyn, Lord Tarly, and his supposed marriage negotiations, the lords kneeling to the Iron Throne again. How they feel about Martell and other things.
(Weak) Whisperer network acquired in Dorne.
