"Well Lannister is a fool. And Emelia is so greedy she is willing to look foolish. Horas probably thinks he would do a good job, but regardless he is not blood. Nehmen was right, and I want a Blood relative as Regent. If we start letting anyone run the realm that will be bad form. But does it matter. The council votes, and I invited those two but certainly did not give them a vote."
Piers takes another sip from his wine and says, "Nehmen and I will vote the same, but definitely not together. Mustn't give any one ideas that we work together on every issue. Madnerly will vote Andrey, and so will Andrey. So it comes down to you."
"So what will it be Rhodri? Please do not make me name some fool to command the King's Guard so I can have his vote. That is one thing I plan on doing better then Callen." Piers rolls his eyes.

"I hope not to make an enemy of Andry, since I like to keep close ties to the Stormlands. My budding alliance with Bolton might take a hit. But I will vote for Anya if I must. And I'll send Jon Royce away from the city again to keep him from her clutches, the fool."

"Right, now the King's Guard. Who should we fill it with? I honestly can not think of anyone worth asking." Piers says deep in thought.

Rhodri snorts. "How have we lived through an era with so many wars and yet have so few great knights? Callen may have assembled the worst Kingsguard in history, but I'm having a hard time thinking of any better to fill the gaps."

"Perhaps Ser Josef Jordayne? A Dornishman to honor the reunification of the Seven, er Eight, Kingdoms? And let's not forget Ser Pedryc Yew, the finest swordsman in the Westerlands."

Piers shakes his head, "Not yet. I am in talks with Emelia to join immeidately upon the betrothal, but that is far from ready. I do not want to offer her any rewards until she bows a little. I am now in a place to affect change with that malnourished relationship." Piers looks at his hands, "Perhaps a Great Tourney. It could force great men forward to consider."

"Ser Justin Prestor and Berrim Manderly can both handle weapons and lead soldiers, virtues in the Kingsguard, and neither are in line to be lords."

OOC: Yew is a Legendary Swordsman. Prestor and Manderly are both on the "Noted Generals" list plus are described as being Grandmaster sword and axe respectively. FYI. All are described as unwed and none are lords. Seriously, I have no idea how Callen did not look at the noted and famed lists when asking for KG.

Piers nods, "Those names sound vaguely familar to me. If you vouch for them I will accept them. Should I discontinue Callen's pet army?"
ooc:You know whats funny, I created that original list for Callen when he wanted a King's Guard Commander. He just never went back to that well.

"We need two. Ask Yew first, he's the finest blade, and then choose between Prestor and Manderly -- perhaps whichever does better in this tourney of yours. Their skill as generals might come in handy for the boy King someday. Better yet, Anselm falls into a well and name both Prestor and Manderly to the Kingsguard."
"Though if you take Yew into the Kingsguard, you may have to put up with his father here in King's Landing. It is hard to believe they are related."
"The pet army. Hmm...they seemed to be a sticking point for certain lords. But I can see the reason a King might want one. Still, I think it better to hide the professional army under the rubric of the Goldcloaks, or a Crownland Guard, rather than "First Westerosi Army" or somesuch nationalist bullshit. The Lords have to think a King needs them. It feeds their petty egos."

"To return to the topic of regency, I believe Lord Horas will prefer Andry. He fears Anya could plunge us into another war, perhaps over the fate of the north. I have to admit, I hesitate for the same reason."

"I understand his concern, and If that means you will support Andrey I understand pefectly. I think Yew would make a good Lord Commander." Piers smiles wickedly.
"Also we should start the trial for Tallahar. There is no sense waiting, I think it would be best if he would take the black."
