"What got his blood bolling. My former closets friend a one Bane Karstark threatened to kill me when we first meet." Tallahar's voice is low and you can hear the sadness, "He was the greatest friend I ever had. To honour him I took his Bastard son as my squire."

"I do," Aerie replied, "though they are considerably younger than yourself." She paused. "I have one who is older. I think you two would get along splendidly together." Aerie turned to Aranya in interest. "You have all his progeny? He was quite a well-built horse, if I correctly recall. No better than my Aranchy, however," she added with a wink. "He still is my favorite. Those two are some fine stock." There was a spark of interest in Selyse's eyes, and she said demurely, "I hope you tell them that I would be happy to have them over here." "Already sending out your own invitations, Selyse?" Aranya raised an eyebrow, but she didn't look too stern. Rhae smiled and turned back to talking to Marq. "I always thought Snow and Anarchy were quite an extraordinary pair - although Snow was a bit wilder, and Anarchy a bit less savage. Did your bay ever sire any foals worthy of him? I'm quite happy with Snow's offspring - I ride a grey mare who's two generations down, and Brynden has a fine black mare, as sprightly as a spring doe."

"Do not worry about him, Lord Tallahar," Aranya said, feigning indifference. "He has some bad memories of his own life that came out just then."

Tallahar nodes, "Yes we all have moments of our life we wish to forget." The Dawn Raider's hand goes to his chest and gently touches the horrible unseen scar that he know is just under his tunic.

"We all have horses from the same sire or grandsire," Lewyn added. "I have a chestnut gelding, and Rhae has a bay filly."
"She's all right," Rhae said. "Too high-strung though."

"Best not to think of the bad moments, my lord," Rhae Rykker said brightly. "You have so much glory and many good deeds to bask in."

Tallahar looks at the girl and tears are at the Dawn Raiders eyes, "Glory is nothing." He turns his head from the girl. "I have killed too many people for one man. Men so many men. Husbands, Fathers, Sons. Woman and children also." The Dawn Raider turns his head again, "Girls younger then yourself."

Rhae looked startled. She hadn't expected it to turn so serious. Rhae couldn't think what to say.
"Don't trouble yourself so," Aranya said to Tallahar, thinking that this man had changed a hell of a lot since she'd left. "I have blackened my sword with blood more times than I can count, but I do not lose any sleep over it."

"Yes but I killed Children. You do not know what that does to me. After Nightsong I could not sleep soundly for months. Now with Bane and Rindwynd gone death seems so close. I'm growing old and I can hear the Stranger calling for me. But it's not only her that waits but all the innocents that my sword has killed."

Aranya used to experience things like these, and the guilt recurred at many times in her life, but she hadn't expected this from Tallahar Tyrell, the most battle-crazy knight in the Seven Kingdoms.
"Maybe you would like a rest?" She suggested. "A holiday, perhaps? To calm your mind. I would be happy to host you here if you like. There is plenty to do here."

"No the realm calls for me again. I am the Dawn Raider it is what I made myself to be so I must always be him." Tallahar laughs, "Very few people know the truth Tallahar Tyrell. Children and young Knights and squire only see the Dawn Raider not me."Tallahar whispers the last word.

Aranya's tale of how she ended up in Duskendale "Very exciting indeed. Why did you leave Westeros though?"

Rhae's cheeks turned pink, but she laughed in surprise at his jest. "I have indeed been away from home for too long," she said. "I missed this town, and King's Landing, and my friends..." she trailed away, and looked at him suspiciously. "But it seems my friends have forgotten me." "Come now, my lady, I do not believe any could forget you. I can just picture you now, playing in the nursery of the Red Keep, being a terror to the guards," he laughed.

Aranya's eyes had a shuttered look, as if some window was being hidden. "I had a job to do," Aranya said quietly. "And it is done. For the most part. The rest of it is beyond my control, anyway."
Rhae began to laugh. "I began to think you wouldn't say it. Though if I recall correctly, it was you and that Payne boy who got into so much trouble," she said, eyes twinkling.

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
Jon awoke in his chambers. He had left the feast early, having felt some strange emotion which he could not name. He had immediately fell asleep in his bed. His heart was now thumping ceaselessly, in a rythmic pattern. "Dead! dead, dead, dead, dead!" it seemed to shout at him, each time it beat. He shook his head and retrieved some water he had laying near. His mind went back to the dream he just had.... I was in a great city, by the ocean. The air was so hot, and it the city smelled of burning flesh. Nobody was in the streets, but I went into the castle, which had many towers. I walked into the great hall, and there were food and drink set up for hundreds, but only three men sat at the feast. One man had a giant scar across his face, another looked quite drunk, and the third... was Lewys. They were sipping the wine. "Isn't victory sweet?" the knight the scar exclaimed. Lewys laughed, happier than I had ever seen him. Lewys looked over at me and bid me to sit by him. "Jon, how was the feast in the Dun Fort?" he asked. I wanted to lie, to say it went well, but he already knew. "You wished me, dead, Jon. You wanted to be Lord of Deep Den." No, I told him, I did not want him dead. I hope you never die, Lewys. "I never want you to die, Lewys. I hope you live forever." He looked at me and smiled, cruelly. Lewys was not usually cruel. "How ironic, Lord Lydden," he said to me. He called me Lord Lydden. Lewys sipped the wine, and then faded away, until I awoke here....
Jon rose and, dressing, went to explore the Dun Fort. He could not sleep.
