Edric smiled and accepted graciously. It may also help to show his captors that he is sincerely on the side of the far reach, by having one of thier lords squire his boy. A smart move. "And what is the other thing you would like to speak of?"

"I received a letter from the stewards in Casterly Rock informing me of my eldest daughter's flowering. She is three-and-ten, perhaps a little young for a proper marriage, but certainly not for a betrothal. If your son is of the correct age, I offer to join our Houses with a lasting bond of marriage." He waited as the offer hung in the air.

A squire is one thing... but a marriage between Houses, that is another. Not that the offer displeases me. The Farman's are about equal in importance to House Cuy, yet we have more history. They're most famous member may in fact be standing in front of me. Edric quickly calculated his decision, but decided that it not matter, anyhow-- He had promised Willem the right to choose his own bride. "This is a pleasant offer indeed, Lord Farman," Edric said, "but I must be frank. I cannot promise my consent to the marriage-- all chances of it going through rests on Willem's shoulders. I promised the boy not two years past that I would allow him to choose his own wife, no matter who she may be. I can and will most strongly suggest it to him, but I trust that he may wish to cast his eyes upon your daughter before he makes his decision. He is most... willful, at times."

Jaymes laughed off the slight that had obviously been hidden under Edric's words. No matter though, there was no reason to poison a new friendship over a rejected offer. "I understand completely, Ser, I demanded that right from my own father in my youth. I shall make arrangements for Duncan to come to the Arbor. If you do not mind, I wish for him to begin his squireship as soon as possible." Jaymes frowned. "I fear he may be thrust into a lordship earlier than any man should. I was far too young, even at eight and ten, and Duncan is more than half a decade younger than I was when my own lord father died."
A regretful look passed over the Lord of Faircastle's face and silence covered the room for a few moments. Then Jaymes snapped out of his darkness and spoke up with obviously forced enthusiasm. "Still we should make our way to the training field, eh? I've got a few tricks that I haven't even shown you yet, and I think you're ready to move beyond what I've taught you so far."

Edric's own mood grew dark when Lord Farman began speaking of his death. Perhaps I should have accepted his offer of marriage for Willem... but, a promise is a promise. And I must always keep my word to my son. Edric forced a smile when the Lord teased him about their upcoming bout, and cleared his mind of his worries, determined to improve his skills.

Edric's quarters are bare as he takes one last look at them before heading out of the door. His belongings had already been taken to the ship hours ago. Edric stopped in Lord Farman's cell to for a farewell and future plans concering Farman's son as his squire. Finally, the ship left the harbor with Edric on it. They were heading to King's Landing.
