Ask you're northmen that. Maybe because you're way beyond the wall. I don't know.

Not that I am completely against this attack.
Just wondering why my men were commandeered.

I am going to use the compromise offered by Lydden and use the 22 number for the Ironborn.

I do not have the time to write the description for the battle so I am going to do this very formuliac.
Initial Naval Battle
The Attacking Fleets are ravaged by the Iron Born defenders. Even though out numbered they Iron born are able to destroy ten ships with out taking very heavy losses.
Eleven of the Attacking ships are sunk by the cruel Iron Born, including the Sea Badger. Lord Lydden is lost at sea.
Two Ironborn ships are lost.
The new commander of the Wester forces orders a retreat, and the remainder of the Attacking Allied forces retreat. They fish Lord Lydden out of the sea, alive but unconcious before they retreat.
The Ironborn pursue, but do not truly commit and the other forces are allowed to escape.
Results Eleven Western, Northern and Riverlander ships are destroyed. 1100 men are killed at sea.
Two Ironborn ships are sunk 200 men are killed.

Maybe skill maybe the fact that the Ironborn ships are fantastic at fighting in close, maybe just pure dumb luck.

I would say a combination of the first two, and maybe a little bit of luck. I don't see how any fleet can defeat them, if I had them 2 to 1 and got taken to school.

I know when they took the shields we agonized for weeks over how to cross a tiny little piece of water without getting eaten alive.

Ok, he started with 20 seagard ships, 15 northern ships, and 5 western ships
of the 11 ships that were sank, I'd say that 2 were from the west (including Sea Badger), 4 were manderly ships and 5 were seagard, judging by the proprtions.
That would mean 250 of 1000 seagard men were killed, 400 of however many northern soldiers, and 550 westermen dead.
I did that based on the idea that Seagard send only 20 ships with their crews of 50 men each, and the other 50 men on each of the 5 seagard ships that sank were knights of the west.
Does that sound about right?
So there are 15 seagard ships, 11 northern ships, and 3 west ships remaining respectively. Does that sound correct?

That sounds right, but I will have to fix the numbers in my army. I had a lot more rivermen being killed than westermen, because more of their ships were sunk and it only made sense for rivermen to be crewing and fighting on rivermen boats.
I did the ship numbers like you did, and then subtracted the best I could:
Riverlands- lost 5 ships = lost 500 men
North- Lost 4 ships= Lost 400 men
West- Lost 2 ships = Lost 200 men
