ooc: Hmm, that doesn't fill me with confidence - my last 2 characters died shortly after joining that company - the air must be thin up there?

You did kill one of those characters yourself, remember.

Sorry about that, my brother left himself logged in and I didn't notice.
This is the third time that I have been misinformed about the totals at Bear Island, although IC I have sent ships to scout out the island on several occasions.
I wrote a scenario, Ships, Burn, 521 AC a couple days ago. Nine ships were burned out of 23. The Scenario was posted and has been for a couple of days.
How are there 40 now?
I'm not saying its not true, but if it is, there was a major mistake involved somewhere along the line.

Can we compromise and just say that the Ironborn have 22 ships left (after subtracting the 9 destroyed) so that we can just commence this attack and move on with our lives?
EDIT: 22 is halfway between 13 and 31.

I'd say it's Smith's call.

well he had accepted the scenario stating that we burned 9 of 23 ships...

But if it was a mistake, then it was a mistake. The Smith doesn't have time to check every single statistic every time he reviews a scenario.

I didn't state the number of 23 (I hated that movie, BTW). But I was informed by Smithy himself of that total. However, it could still be a mistake. He is a busy guy and even gods can make a mistake. ;D
So, while I think something should be worked out based on the idea that my plans have been aimed at defeating 23 ships (and now 13), I will wait on 'Da Man' to make his decision.
Be back online in the morning.

The problem is I never specified how many ships were at Bear Island, but when I said that 2,000 were sent there, I assumed it would be understood that they were going with 40 ships, since the Iron Islands forces never move without their ships, since they do all their fighting at sea. As the full strength of the Iron Island is 20,000 men and 400 ships, it means we just have enough men to man all our ships with the minimum amount necesseary, so essentially there's no point in not sending as many ships as possible wherever the men go, since we'll never have not enough, if you get me.
Smith got his numbers from Erik, it would seem, who himself made a mistake in calculating the number of ships based on the amount of men sent.

So was nothing decided on this last night? I expected to come online this morning and find a clear ruling.

It's being discussed on the council board at the moment, I think Smith was busy last night and didn't have a chance to attend to it.

Oh, okay, I completely understand.
But another question I have relates to the last troop movement thread, where 2,000 men and ships were sent to Bear Island last night. When this attack is resolved and finally rolled, I won't be fighting them, will I? Because this attack was posted and supposed to take place long before help could arrive from the south.

Nah, that troop movement was sent in before I even knew the attack was happening, it wasn't to join in on this thing, so they're out of the fight.

Good I wanna take this little time to thank the site council for taking the effort of discussing this issue, too. We all know you have better things to do then count ships ;D

Heh, well I'm staying out of the discussion since I have an obvious bias, it's the other guys doing it really.
