After the successful assault of Rosby Castle, Karlon Barclay summons Rolland to his chambers. Karlon is surrounded by six guards of House Barclay, four stand outside his door, and Karlon is also armed and armored.
Rolland is brought in in chains.

Ser Rolland looked contemptuously at Barclay and his guards.
"Is this how you treat a Knight taken in fair battle Ser?"

"I haven't killed you yet, traitor, so don't be so down yourself. I'll let you live too, if you get your Lord to surrender and turn against the usurper." Karlon barked a laugh as he sat in his chair sharpening a sword.

Rolland gave Barclay an incredulous look.
"Just who do you think you're dealing with here Barclay? I'm a garrison commander, a knight, not a Lord."

"I don't tell Lord Velaryon to do anything. He gives me the orders. As his liegeman I obey them."

"I can give him all the orders you like Barclay.
"But he's unlikely to obey 'orders' from the likes of me, especially if they come from the likes of you."

"Another cryptic question Barclay? Or another threat?
"Cheese and bread will be fine. Just deliver it here. Be a good man and unchain me while I eat would you?"

Karlon seemed to ignore the fact that he had ever mentioned food. "Why did you side with Horas?"
