Arerya summons his captains to the command tent, where a sand table is laid out of the surruonding countryside. Jacelyn and Martyn Dogget are there as advisors to the Admiral.

Achillios is the first captain to arrive, followed closely by his friend Cahrin. The two stand facing the Admiral's sand table, and snap to attention saluting the Admiral.

Cahrin and Achillios stood foremost among the captains, giving anyone who challenged them menacing glares.

When the captains have all arrived Arerya began. "Captains, it is good to see you all in good health." He walks around the table and points to the the cluster that represents Yeen. "As you can see, we are here. There are several options we have for advancing." He gestures to another cluster directly south or Yeen. "The city of Noth'Kol, ten days ride from our current location. My scouts say they are willing to parlay with us, and perhaps contribute men to our cause." He then points to another city, further off, and across what looks like a desert. "The High City of Kalior, capital of a small kingdom further to the south. I sent a party of men to meet with them when we landed in Zamettar, and I have heard nothing. They could have been lost in the desert, or slain by the Kaliors."

"If they have slain your men in cold blood, sir, let us march to Kalior and teach them of their folly."

No one spoke after Achillios. Cahrin glanced at Achillios who nodded to him, and he began speaking, slowly at first. "Admiral, may I speak?" Taor merely nodded, so Cahrin continued. "The people of Noth'Kol may say they wish to parlay with us, but I do not think they can be trusted. We should treat with them only if they agree to contribute men to our cause now, and use these men to help us on our attack against the much richer prize of Kalior," he said, glancing around for signs of what the others were thinking, but their faces were emotionless. "If they perform well and true against Kalior, we can know they are to be trusted. And if they do not... then we will still have beaten the Kalior ourselves and we will know that Noth'Kol is no friend to the great Admiral Arerya Taor," Cahrin finally finished, stepping back among the captains.

As Cahrin finished Arerya smiled, "Indeed, Cahrin. I need a man, or men, willing to take up the flag and travel to Noth'Kol, while I would like another to take a party to see what they find of the road to Kalior." He looks at Cahrin and Achillios when he says that.

"If it pleases you, I will accept the more... diplomatic mission towards North'Kol," Cahrin answered, and hesitated, but then continued. "And I believe Achillios would be an excellent man to scout out the possible hostile road towards Kalior."

"I will meet these Kaliors, and judge their worth. If they attempt any treachery, I know you shall wipe them off the face of this land."

"Good, Achillios, Ser Martyn here will travell with you. Cahrin, I have a letter for you to give to the ruler of Noth'Kol, when you arrive." He turns to the rest of the group, "It seems decided then, I will notify you all when the army is going to move." As the captains file out the Admiral calls for Cahrin and Achillios to stay behind.

Cahrin deflected the jealous glances his fellow captians gave him as they left the tent, his mind solely on his next mission and what information the Admiral was preparing to share with him.

Arerya smiles and gestures for the two captains to sit, "Cahrin, here is the letter to give to the ruler, but I will sumrise. We want them to give us troops, and a sizeable number of them. Do what you must in the negotiations, as I do not think it will -hurt- us if we have to take another city. Scout it out as well for any defensive measures they have taken."

Cahrin nods. "Consider it done, Admiral. A couple of my most trusted men and I will be on the way before sunrise tomorrow."

"Good." He turns to Achillios, "Your mission, my friend, is more difficult. The road through the desert to Kalior is long and hot, but the army -needs- to know what defenses they have in position, as well as if our scouts where killed by Kaliors or by the elements."

"I will take only our swiftest outriders and most sturdy horses. You will know of their defensive quality soon, Lord Admiral."
